CITRINELIVING 2020: A YEAR OF DECORATING, PROJECTS, STYLING IDEAS + DIY’S!
Happy New Year, friends! 2021 is finally here and I think we are all ready for a fresh start! If you’re a regular reader or new here, you’ll love this post! It’s always so neat to look back at what we’ve accomplished in a year – and we’ve tackled a lot of projects at CitrineLiving!
We’ve made some gorgeous updates throughout our home this past year, I’ve shared a few simple DIY’s and tutorials, loads of seasonal decorating posts, beautiful hardware updates in our kids’ bathroom and our friends’ kitchen, a gorgeous patio refresh, a laundry/mudroom update, and so much more. I hope you have as much fun looking back too!

CITRINELIVING KITCHEN UPDATE: NEW ROMAN SHADES
At CitrineLiving, we started off last year with a gorgeous kitchen update – our elegant and sophisticated custom roman shades from Martha and Ash – a new addition that helped to complete the look and elevate the decor in this space.
I think romans are my favorite – a clean and simple way to dress windows up beautifully. We still love them as much today as we did a year ago.
You can see more of our kitchen update to get all the details, order your own custom shades, and see how they’ve transformed our kitchen.
OUR MASTER BEDROOM UPDATE: NEW NIGHTSTANDS, RUG AND LAMPS
Our bedroom refresh was not only a beautiful update but a very functional one, with the addition of our gorgeous new dressers from Lauren Haskell, we were able to get much needed storage in our small master bedroom.
It’s a great way to add style and save space at the same time in a smaller bedroom.
We also added gorgeous new ginger jar lamps – that may make an appearance in our living room this spring – and a beautiful new rug also helped to complete this soft, elegant look in our mast bedroom.
Head over and read more about our master bedroom update to get more details. You can also find some fun bedroom pillow styling ideas in another bedroom post I shared last year, with six different looks and combinations. Always so fun!

SPRING ENTRYWAY DECORATING – OUR NEW CONSOLE TABLE
Another new furniture addition in our home last year was our beautiful console table from Lauren Haskell, which makes a gorgeous statement as you enter our home.
This is actually a desk, but fits perfectly here, and Lauren offers another size as a console table as well.
It was meant for our daughter’s bedroom and ended up in this space instead! We moved our previous console table to our bedroom for the time being. This piece is so beautiful, functional and very versatile for decorating as well, it’s fun to use different stools and pieces to compliment it.

CITRINELIVING CONSOLE TABLE STYLING – 3 LOOKS!
This was a fun post to work on, with three different looks that I came up with to help you find interesting ways to decorate.
You can read all about styling a console table and get more details and styling tips, it’s a great resource!
I also share other variations based on these looks in my post as well, that you may find useful.
OUR DIY DINING ROOM GALLERY WALL
This project was something I came up with on a whim and it was so much fun to do! It was inexpensive, so fun and creative, and gave our dining room a totally different, more curated look.
Using some of my own drawings, free printable art and photographs, I created this gorgeous DIY gallery wall that we love so much. This is such a great post to get inspired…you can do this so easily anywhere in your home.
I’m thinking creating another one in our hallway or living room…stay tuned!
RECOVERED BARSTOOLS: A SIMPLE DIY!
Our kitchen barstools are one of my favorite pieces we own, but I always knew I wanted to change the plain fabric for something different.
I always love an easy project…this DIY was surely that!
It was fun to give our barstools an update with this simple and sturdy striped fabric – and the best part – it’s so easy to change anytime. I may switch it up soon for something fun!For a very simple tutorial on how to do this easily yourself, read more about how to recover barstools and get all the details you need.
OUR KID’S BATHROOM UPDATE
A new hardware update from Belwith-Keeler, new DIY modern artwork and adding one of my favorite mirrors, our kids’ bathroom update was simple and chic, fun to do, and again, it helped to elevate the look.
This small bathroom is also the main bath that guests use when they visit, so it’s important to me that this space flows with the rest of our home.
CITRINELIVING PATIO UPDATE: NEW FURNITURE, PILLOWS + RUGS!
As far as transformations go, I think this is one our favorites ever! We live out here in the summer (which is not long where we are), and making it a lighter, brighter outdoor space truly has brought us so much joy.
We added white planters and sheer drapes, updated some of our furniture and all of the rugs (all from Safavieh) and added some new pillows. You can read more about our patio update to get inspired for your summer decorating this year!We can’t wait to get back out here and enjoy this space again, it’s so relaxing peaceful, we love having such a beautiful extension of our home to retreat to.
OUR MUDROOM/LAUNDRY ROOM UPDATE
This makeover was so long in the making. We’ve lived in our home for almost eleven years now, and when my vision finally came to fruition, I was so thrilled. We all are!
This space is very hard-working and gets a ton of daily use. It’s so important that functional space be beautiful too…New pillows and bench fabric from Tonic Living, new baskets, hardware, roman shade (also from Martha & Ash), rug, lighting and a built-in counter were the items we tackled. To see more of what we did to create a beautifully decorated, functional space and also to see the before, make sure to head over and see our full mudroom/laundry room reveal.
A WHITE AND GREY KITCHEN UPDATE
Our good friends have a stunning kitchen to start with, but they wanted a more sophisticated look with their hardware.
I helped them make this transformation with big impact by adding all new cabinet pulls to replace the many knobs throughout, and new drawer pulls as well.
The look is gorgeous. Head over and to see the before and more of this beautiful and bright kitchen!
That completes a year of decorating, styling, DIY’s and projects at CitrineLiving! I hope you enjoyed taking a look back with me, and I’m so excited for what’s to come this year! Stay tuned for a great year full of more seasonal decorating, new organizing ideas, monthly recipes (something new!) and of course more simple and easy DIY’s.
