BACKYARD PATIO REVEAL: PERFECT FOR ENTERTAINING!
I can’t believe we’re finally here…I’ve been talking about this moment for at least two months now, and if you’ve been following along with me here and on Instagram, you know that the weather has played a critical role in the production, or lack thereof, of our patio makeover. Well, today is the the day and I’m so excited to share our new backyard patio reveal – perfect for entertaining!
What a Spring it has been. Rain, rain, rain and so….much….rain. It has been, well, trying to say the least, but we were able to build the new deck off to the side of the patio, and set up all of our magnificent new patio and lounge furniture from the Canadian Tire CANVAS collection. Two words : IN LOVE. Really, really, really in love.
I had a very specific vision for this space and I have to say, from concept to ‘almost’ completion (more on that in a minute), it has come to life exactly as I had planned. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with Canadian Tire for this makeover, and I think you’ll be thrilled with the results too.

OUR BACKYARD PATIO REVEAL!
The reason why it’s ‘almost’ completed, is because we have some finishing details that we couldn’t get to, due to the weather conditions. I could not put our backyard patio reveal off any longer, so keep your eyes peeled for a follow up post later this Summer, which will include some final items that will bring everything up a few notches.
We’ll be staining the deck and stairs, adding new shutters and window boxes to the windows and sprucing up the landscaping here and there. Just enough touches to go from almost, to completely ;)
Enough rambling, time for our new backyard patio reveal! It’s a true oasis. First, let’s look back at what our yard looked like before. Pretty, but not so functional. Our gazebo and dining area were nice, but small, and starting to wear down after almost 10 years of use. It was time for something new.
It was very important to me that we create three specific zones back here, so that we can relax, entertain and have an extension of the interior of our home. I wanted it to feel as though you were simply in another room off the back of our house.
Now, the functionality is perfect, and with the new deck we built off to the side, it feels as though the space has doubled in size. We have a lounging zone, a dining zone and a conversation zone, all of which we’ve used daily since we’ve created this – weather permitting that is! Come on out and have a closer look at our backyard patio reveal!
BACKYARD PATIO REVEAL: THE LOUNGING ZONE
I’ll start with the this gorgeous Dashley gazebo we found. Many of the items you see out here are from the same collection. This gazebo is sturdy, spacious (the size is 10 x 12″ which we love) and it keeps the rain out when the vinyl curtain panels are all zipped closed.
We’ve had a ton of rain as you know, and this baby has kept everything dry when it gets wet outside. We store all of the cushions and accessories in here and it’s great.
I wanted the rug to be bold and ground the loveseat and club chairs, pulling the lounge area together. Our Windermer fire table is the perfect piece to bring in some coziness on chilly evenings too :)Keeping with my idea of extending our living room outside, I wanted to make sure to continue the color palette into these areas, while at the same time, the layers of different blue pattern brighten all the darker pieces.
All of the new pillows I found, mix beautifully with my existing pillows, which makes me very happy – you know I love that mix!
I love having a bar cart. This is a new thing for me, since I don’t have one inside the house right now, and I’ve wanted one for a while. I love that they add a chic statement to any space, and they’re so fun for entertaining – I’m very happy that now I can entertain with style ;)
As you’ll see throughout this post, I’ve brought in many majesty palm plants back here. So far, they’ve done pretty well and I’ve managed to keep them all alive! I can’t believe it and I love how these ones frame the loveseat and bring in more texture.
If you know me well, then you know that I love to add layers to bring in a collected look to our home. This outdoor space is no different – baskets, warm blankets, lanterns, mixed patterns and of course garden stools are all key elements out here.
By the way – I’m still looking for my blue and white garden stools, which I haven’t yet purchased, but I’m determined to get some by next summer! However, I did find these blue and white tribal influenced planters, which I absolutely adore. You may remember my Spring porch (see it here), where I had a pair on the front steps, planted with hostas. I love them even more back here with my palms. This lounge zone is perfect for us and truly feels like an escape back here, and our Lakeside solar chandelier is the perfect finishing detail. The resin wicker loveseat and chairs from the Somerset collection are sleek and elegant and are the perfect foundation for my layers of blue pillows.
We love our fire table in the evenings and the warm glow it casts in this space too…I never knew these gave off so much heat – ideal for keeping little toes warm!
This view allows you to get a better look at the deck and how much dimension it adds out here. Remember the before pics? This is such a great addition to our yard, and a much more affordable option than extending the patio. We love it so much, we’re thinking of building another one on the other side of the patio eventually.
THE DINING ZONE IN OUR NEW BACKYARD
I wanted a dining area that felt like you could be eating in a fabulous and chic dining room. Bringing the feeling of indoors out, played a critical role in how I wanted to style this look. The table and chairs are from the Dashley collection, and the end chairs, or captain’s chairs, are from the Helena collection. I wanted these to stand out and have a prominent place in this area.
The beautiful scroll arm detail and extra deep seat add an elegant and sophisticated touch. They’re also perfect for pulling up around the fire table for extra, comfortable seating.
I used one my favorite ginger jars as the centerpiece, again, to bring the indoors out – and well, a ginger jar is always the perfect addition in any space or table!
Of course there’s lots of blue and white and pattern mixing happening here as well.
I love this Sol collection outdoor dishware, and how gorgeous it looks mixed with my blue and white linens. I always love to try something different for an unexpected look on my tablescapes.Since our Summer season is so short, it’s amazing to finally have a comfortable and welcoming space to dine for the season as much as we can…and there’s something about eating at this table that truly transports you to another place! We love lingering here for hours. And what better feeling than to feel like you’re away somewhere when you’re in your own backyard?
Now, if only our Summer season lasted a few months longer, we could easily enjoy this space year round.
It’s especially great having a whole other living area to hang out and entertain in and, we’re looking forward to many more meals at this table with family and friends…
THE PATIO CONVERSATION ZONE
My sister-in-law and the kids stopped in last night for dinner and we also hosted Father’s Day here last weekend. I can honestly say that this little conversation corner is the best addition to our patio, everyone loves this spot!
Having one now is heavenly. It’s perfect for relaxing after a meal, and sitting around for great conversation – so far that’s exactly what we’ve done here, and we’re looking forward to much more.
The Beaumont chairs with their wingback styling are so chic and effortless – and they are so comfortable. Perfect for sinking into and putting your feet up! The Bailey reversible rug (the other side is almost the reverse of this) is classic, and adds the perfect, classic Summer vibe.
I love having two of them side by side in the two neighboring zones. I’ve been adding lots of stripes throughout our home lately, and you can see more of them in my Summer home tour here and my post on stripes, here.
We love to have our coffee here in the mornings sometimes too. We listen to all the birds chirping and just soak up the peace and quiet. We’re thrilled with the results of our makeover and we love having the multiple zones that each serve a purpose. Every piece we chose from the different Canvas collections work so beautifully together…
The flow of the space, the ease and the comfort suits our needs perfectly. Now, if Summer would just last a little longer…

Hi Tamaraanka! I am new to your site and love your style! I am in the greater Toronto area and it made me smile when I saw your patio reveal and pieces from Canadian Tire. I too have always wanted an outdoor bar cart. It is the last piece I need to add to my outdoor oasis. I would love to know where yours is from. It is the nicest I have seen anywhere and I can’t find it in your shop list. I realize it’s been a couple years since posted but any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Hi! It’s from Canadian Tire and it’s a solar light! I believe they still sell it, but here is a link to another similar one if you’d like! https://rstyle.me/+Og1NHSRJtQm7au873gzFCw
I would LOVE to know where you got that outdoor chandelier and if it’s hard-wired or witless hanging with a remote control? :)
Hi Megan! Thank you so much! Everything here is mostly from Canadian Tire, but unfortunately many pieces are not available anymore. If you’d like to visit my SHOP tab, SHOP MY PATIO, I have similar pieces linked to shop! And yes this is a gas operated fireplace! Thanks again!

It’s all from Canadian Tire! If you live in Canada, I believe you can still purchase them :) Congrats on the wedding!
