OUR CHIC LAUNDRY ROOM UPDATE: CHINOISERIE WALLPAPER, A NEW SHADE, RUG AND TEXTILES!

| |

I’m thrilled to finally share our latest room refresh with you – our chic laundry room update! This was one of those projects that took months to complete, only because so many other things kept getting in the way. We had a very busy summer, but I’m happy to report we’ve finally finished it all and even though we made only a handful of changes, the difference from before is huge! Our laundry room has seen a few mini makeovers through the years, and I must say, this latest update is by far my very favorite. That’s probably quite obvious, since it’s now swathed in my favor color! If you’d like, you can tour our laundry room before, which we really loved as well, but this new and improved update is just stunning. Our peel and stick wallpaper has made the biggest difference in this space – it adds so much light and visually enlarges our room, it’s really incredible what color can do – I wish you could see it in person! Come and take the tour with me and I’ll show you all of the small updates that have made a huge difference as well.

OUR CHIC LAUNDRY ROOM UPDATE!

Welcome to our chic laundry room update with a fresh dose of chinoiserie! As I mentioned above, our new peel and stick wallpaper has had the most impact in here and has completely transformed this room from dark, to light and bright – and what a difference it makes!

It was a little tricky to install, I will be very honest – but thankfully, my hubby who is my very best handyman, did most of it (I was a good assistant though!). It’s more or less like installing a giant sticker -it can stick to the walls and onto itself as you work, but you can remove it many times until you get it right. It just takes some patience, but so worth it!

I found this chic washable rug, and love the oushak print, and the pretty, soft colors. It lightens the room as well and coordinates beautifully in here. With our dark walls and floor before, this is such a refreshing change.

We’ve also updated our roman shade to this custom remote control shade with gorgeous trim detail. Like all of the window treatments in our home, our shade is from TwoPages and you can get 22% off on anything with my code CITRINELIVING. You can take the tour and see all of our window treatments throughout our home.

We needed to replace our washer and dryer with new ones, which are slightly larger than our previous pair. We didn’t have the space to install a counter with a waterfall edge bike before, so we opted for this very practical counter top that has a small ledge and we love it.

It’s very durable and provides protection for our machines, plus it helps to keep everything neat and tidy as well. It’s very easy to clean and keeps anything from falling behind.

I usually have a large woven basket here, but removed it to style this spot for my photos. I do keep a stack of pool towels here all summer, and this cute little framed art print that conveniently hides the plumbing in the wall stays here also.

I was worried I wouldn’t like our machines not having a builtin look, but this was an affordable alternative – we’re very happy with it and I love the contrast of the white.

I do wish we could have that look in here, and would love all new cabinets in here some day – these are original to our home when we built it, we bought a kit from a big box store and built the cubbies above and around them, as well as the bench area.

One of the small details I really love in our laundry room update, are the wallpapered light switches. Just a small element that adds a little luxe, refined touch!

How beautiful is this gorgeous chinoiserie paper? I love it so much! Our laundry room is about 11 feet in length, by 6.5 feet in width, so it’s not a huge space. We didn’t have a lot of wall surface to cover – so we only needed four rolls to complete the room.

Above you can see how our wallpaper helps to complement the blue walls in my home office at the other end of our hallway.

You can also see from from some of my summer images above, how our new wallpaper cohesively continues the color palette from our entryway as well.

I just love blue, as you all know, and love seeing it threaded from one room to the next in our home. It makes me so happy!

We also recovered our bench with a chic, large-scale gingham print (also called buffalo check). I love the preppy chic look! The fabric was tricky to find in the right shade of blue to match perfectly, but I found this adorable tablecloth (similar) and it was just right.

To complete our laundry room, I styled this corner with one of my favorite block print pillows and this striped pillow, which both coordinate beautifully with the paper and bench, and visually flow into the rest our home. I love this whole look.

I hope you enjoyed learning about all the details that helped to transform this space! Thank you for touring our chic laundry room update with me – we love this new look so much, I hope you do too. xo
