OUR KITCHEN DECORATED FOR CHRISTMAS
This Christmas, I wanted to create a simple, elegant look in our kitchen. Keeping with our home’s traditional holiday theme, I chose to focus on beautiful greenery, accented with red berries and my plaid and satin ribbon combination, in red, blue and green, that you’ll find throughout our home.
If you’re a new reader here at CitrineLiving, we recently updated our kitchen and it truly feels like such a different space. You can read all about our kitchen reveal to get all the design details, befores and afters.
It’s so much brighter and airier now with our new upper cabinets and I’m so happy with how our kitchen looks with this year’s Christmas decorations.
With just a few, simple accents with greenery and ribbon – yes, lots of ribbon – it’s very easy to achieve an elegant, traditional and very festive look for the holidays.

OUR RANGE HOOD + FESTIVE WREATH
I often love to hang a gorgeous statement wreath on our range hood, and have been doing this for the last several years.
We painted our hood Benjamin Moore Simply White when we did our kitchen update, and I absolutely love the contrast of the gorgeous greenery and ribbon against the creamy white backdrop.
I found this wreath at HomeSense, which is the same one as in our Christmas Entryway. I added some more red berries to it and fastened my ribbons with a wire. We also added some fairy lights, which are always my favorite!
MONOGRAMMED TOWELS
I ordered two of these beautiful linen embroidered monogram towels and love the elegance + charm they add to our kitchen…so chic layered over a contrasting pattern!
I added a simple pair of topiaries with red berries to flank the stove – you know I love symmetry – and dropped them into my blue and white planters for a chic, chinoiserie touch, of course! I love how they compliment the wreath and ribbon. After all , is there anything better than plaid and chinoiserie?
I also hung two plaid towels here, to complement all of the ribbon as well – they’re so chic layered with my monogrammed towel.

KITCHEN CABINETS DRESSED UP WITH WREATHS
One of the things I was most excited about when we designed our custom trellis cabinets, was getting to dress them up for Christmas!
I knew I wanted to hang simple boxwood wreaths with beautiful ribbon, and these faux boxwood wreaths are just perfect in our kitchen decorated for Christmas.
There’s just something so festive about pretty wreaths on kitchen cabinets, don’t you think?
They hang so beautifully on the cabinet doors and look so vibrant, preppy and chic.
It was very simple to do. After measuring and cutting the ribbon, and hanging the wreaths, I secured the ribbon with duct tape to the back of the cabinet doors.
If you’re using a plaid ribbon, make sure the pattern falls at the same place on each cabinet so it looks uniform throughout.
Otherwise it could look a little unbalanced, depending on the pattern.
I kept the decorations around our sink very simple – I love the simplicity of our subway tiled wall and didn’t want too much happening over here, visually.
I used a pair of white urn planters I’ve had for many years, and added a topiary ball to each one with a few red berry picks. So simple, effortless and beautiful.

OUR KITCHEN ISLAND DECORATED FOR CHRISTMAS
You’ll find this stunning double topiary at the center of our kitchen island this year, dressed up with my plaid ribbon and satin ribbon combination, in one of my favorite blue and white planters.
This piece is such a beauty and was a lucky HomeSense find. I love the classic, elegant look it brings to our kitchen and it’s the perfect piece for the center of our island.
A pretty burgundy candle and small faux arrangement complement my topiary and add just enough of a festive touch.
I have quite a lot of prep work to do over the next few days as we get ready for Christmas, we have a full holiday schedule starting on Christmas Eve with a houseful.
I love to be in our kitchen! Loving a space that you truly love spending time in helps to make the work much so more enjoyable – we’re very blessed!
Even with all of the work that’s ahead over the holidays, I am so very grateful to have such a beautiful space to work in, that I love spending time in.
A kitchen that’s comfortable, warm and feels like home, where I can provide for our children and my husband, where we all come together as family.
KITCHEN RUNNER
I used our runner from our laundry room and love it in here! It’s a great price for the quality and is beautiful in our kitchen.
It has been so fun sharing our Christmas home with you this year, I’m really going to miss all of this gorgeous decor! I’ve said it before, this year’s holiday look is by far my favorite ever. Usually I get tired of it by now and can’t wait to take it all down…not this year. It’s a tribute to my beautiful Mama in Heaven, who would just be in her glory if she was still here with us… I’ve really loved this traditional, festive feel in our home this year. Thank you Mom, for the inspiration, always. Thanks to all of you as well, for taking time out of your day to read with me and for visiting our kitchen decorated for Christmas. Like so many of you, I’ll be very busy baking and cooking away in the coming days!
WISHING YOU ALL A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS! XO
