TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS DECOR IN OUR LIVING ROOM: CLASSIC PLAID + CHINOISERIE

|

Welcome, Christmas! Don’t you love this time of year? I’m so thrilled to share this year’s living room styled with traditional Christmas decor, in plaid and chinoiserie. Last week, I unveiled our Christmas tree, which I’m loving more than any other tree I’ve ever decorated before. It’s a tribute to my beautiful Mama, and so is our entire holiday look this year. She always was, and always will be my style inspiration – no one has influenced my taste and style more than she. She truly was the classiest woman I’ve ever known. I know she would adore our traditional Christmas decor this year as much as we do.

I wanted our home to feel timeless and classic, sophisticated and elegant, and our Christmas color palette of red, blue, green and gold is exactly that. Come on in to our living room and see how I’ve created an elegant holiday look. You can always shop our home and more Christmas decor in both my Amazon Shop, and LTK Shop too! xo

OUR TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS LIVING ROOM

Our Christmas home this year is my favorite ever and the gorgeous plaid ribbon was the jumping off point for my entire holiday theme, everything else fell right into place after I found it.

I mentioned in my Christmas tree post that it’s sadly sold out…but you can still get inspiration from the pattern and colors!

You’ll also find simple, understated greenery on our mantel and in all of the arrangements throughout our home, dressed with red berries, blue berries and gold touches here and there.

You can see a glimpse of our kitchen dressed for Christmas in the shot above – with the same traditional Christmas decor theme, carried through there as well.

I know so many of you are in Thanksgiving mode this week, but it’s so fun to have Christmas cheer spread around throughout too. Easy for me to say, since we always travel to see family and I don’t have to entertain during November for the holidays!

But I hope today’s tour brings you some fresh ideas if you haven’t started decorating yet.

CHRISTMAS DECOR: OUR GORGEOUS, LUXE PILLOWS!

Once again, I’ve partnered with Arianna Belle to bring the most gorgeous pillow covers to our living room this Christmas. I’m always so grateful to be able to showcase these stunning, luxe beauties in our home.

I am completely smitten with this color combination! The colors are perfect for this year’s holiday theme and the pattern mix is divine.

The jewel tones are so rich all together and the chinoiserie print is just so pretty. The soft green pattern tempers the three pillows together, for a chic and preppy look.

I swapped the two green pillows around for a few shots, since I love both looks so much.

The sapphire chinoiserie pillow cover is bold, yet sophisticated and the print draws your eye right to our sofas.

The Green velvet pillow cover is luxe and elegant and the light green pattern pillow cover is so soft and pretty.

I love how these pillows covers complement my traditional Christmas decor, and the way they play so beautifully off of our Christmas tree.

Isn’t this chinoiserie motif so beautiful against the plaid ribbon? We added contrasting piping to the two patterned pillows for a tailored, crisp look.

Seriously so gorgeous. I’m not sure I’ll be able to part with these when Christmas is over!

OUR BOOKSHELVES AND MANTEL DECOR

I’m usually all about symmetry when styling our bookshelves, and because they’re so massive and take up so much space visually, I like to keep them simply decorated for the holidays.

I used neutral pieces along with a few pops of color within my color palette – white and gold trees, neutral books, gold reindeer, gold hurricane lanterns and my candle bowl.

I found the prettiest little red and white lidded jars at HomeSense and adore them with my traditional Christmas decor this year.

For balance, I echoed the blue and white vases that always sit on the top shelves, with more blue and white jars on the very bottom shelves – with simple greenery and red berry arrangements.

The greenery and red berry garland on our mantel is simple, but makes such a gorgeous statement dressed in pretty bows and styled with our green velvet stockings.

I’ve layered different kinds of garland together or a full, lush look – a ten foot faux pine garland, two, six foot Norfolk pine garlands and two red berry garlands intertwined with the greenery. Red berry picks finish the look.

Gold mercury glass tress and gold candlesticks flank our simple and elegant garland.

You’ll find this same ribbon combination all throughout our home as well – on our wreaths, garlands, topiaries, arrangements and vases.

Layering different ribbons together adds a rich, luxe feel for the season. I often love to find a way to elevate our Christmas decor and styling with ribbon is such a great way to do that.

You can add it to just about anything and it doesn’t have to be expensive!

I’ve used our plaid ribbon as the base, a gorgeous two inch, forest green satin ribbon tied in a bow in the center, finished with simple french blue ribbon – both colors are pulled from my plaid ribbon. More of the blue ribbon dress our stockings as well.

TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS DECOR + STYLING

Our buffet is styled the same way it has been for the last six months or so, my oversized ginger jar with a statement arrangement in the center, flanked with our blue designer lamps. Our cute little ceramic houses and churches sit in between.

Here is my ribbon combo again – it’s truly beautiful against blue and white, don’t you think? For my arrangement, I used real touch greenery, red berry picks, blue berry picks and gold picks.

LAST YEAR’S CHRISTMAS LIVING ROOM

Simple and elegant Christmas living room in soft green and blue with simple greenery.

I styled our ottoman trays with just a few simple accessories, to keep the look clean and unfussy.

Vintage brass candleholders, pretty ornaments on a vintage silver tray, alongside one of my favorite blue and white ginger jars arranged with greenery and red berries, creates a simple, understated vignette.

Next to that, simple and elegant white Christmas tree candles and a gold hurricane lantern create an easy and elegant look.

I’ve since added a gorgeous red glass candle next to the trees and the added pop of red is really beautiful.

I love to layer when I decorate our home – from layers of color and pattern, to layered accessories and art.

With an open concept home that is not overly large, and my style that is layered with a curated feel, it’s important to try and keep things simple with our decor if I can… otherwise the look gets cluttered.

Hi, thank you! Unfortunately they’re discontinued! They’re made by Gabby, we’ve had them for several years and they don’t make them anymore – so sorry I couldn’t help!

Can you tell me where to find the sofa that you use in your photos? I love it.
