SOPHISTICATED CHRISTMAS LIVING ROOM DECOR IN BLUE + RED
Christmas Eve is exactly two weeks from today – how did it come so fast? With the holidays in full swing in our home, today I’m sharing our Christmas living room decor, and the rich, bold colors you’ll find this season. It feels festive and traditional, sophisticated and elegant in our home! I hope you love it as much as we do.
Today, I’m joining a wonderful group of very talented bloggers for this year’s Christmas Home Tour, hosted by Marty from A Stroll Thru Life. Thirty bloggers are sharing their homes this week – I’m always so grateful to be included! If you’re coming over from Alicia of Thrifty and Chic and her beautiful dining room and home, welcome to my Christmas living room! Alicia’s style is gorgeous!
I’m sharing a lot of pictures today! Grab a coffee, relax, and enjoy the tour!

OUR SOPHISTICATED CHRISTMAS LIVING ROOM DECOR
Last week, I shared our Christmas kitchen, also dressed up in blue and red for the season.
We just love these colors in our home so much, it’s such a huge departure from last year’s look.
These rich hues bring so much warmth into our living room. I always love my blues around our home, but adding layers of red and greenery touches to our flocked tree and garland is making me very happy right now!
I think it’s the feeling of nostalgia it brings (I talk a bit about my mom and her love for these colors in my recent Christmas tree post), and the traditional feeling it gives our home.
Even though I was nervous about using this much bold color at first, I’m so glad I went with this palette.
CHRISTMAS LIVING ROOM DECOR: BOOKSHELVES AND MANTEL
I keep our bookshelves pretty simple each season, mainly because they’re the full, eleven-foot height of our living room.
I love a layered look when I decorate, but I don’t want these shelves to look cluttered or overdone, so I usually try to pare back a little.
Our gorgeous new navy and gold monogrammed ginger jars from Lauren Haskell Designs are soooo stunning, don’t you think?
I love how the red ornaments and simple greenery help to compliment them.
The laurel design is sophisticated and elegant and is the perfect addition to my Christmas living room decor and color palette.
I dressed up my pale blue ginger jars with beautiful ribbons (and also added ornaments to them in our kitchen) – it’s such a pretty, festive touch.
Lauren’s shop has so many ginger jars, accessories and furniture to choose from, even custom colors. Make sure to hop over!
In my blue and white chinoiserie vases, I gathered bunches of red berry picks to create a simple, beautiful arrangement.
I LOVE the red with our blue and white ginger jars and vases, it is a gorgeous color combination. Pretty silver and mercury glass ornaments gathered in bowls and scattered on the shelves is always simple and beautiful.
Our stockings were a very lucky find from HomeSense!
I’d been searching for simple, ivory velvet stockings that I could dress up with tassels, ornaments and ribbon, but couldn’t find any in time.
Luckily, I found these embellished, beaded stockings at the last minute and love this look so much more.
They truly are beautiful and add so much to our mantel and garland.
I often love to use a layered, maximalist look when I decorate. For me, it tells a story, and makes our home more personal. When I decorated our flocked garland this year, I added greenery picks to create a new look. I shared more about this in my Christmas sneak peeks post.
I did the same with our flocked tree – I added greenery picks for an added natural element, and to have a base for all the color that wasn’t mainly white.
Plus, the feeling is more traditional and I love it! It takes me back to our days of having a real tree…
WHAT I USED TO CREATE OUR GARLAND:
- Two, nine-foot flocked garlands
- Large, greenery stems from previous years, tied to the ends of each garland
- Small greenery picks, added throughout
- Red berry picks in various sizes, also scattered throughout
- Fairy lights
- Ornaments tied with ribbon to dress it up
OUR GORGEOUS CHINOISERIE PILLOWS
If you remember my fall living room tour, then you remember our stunning pillows from Arianna Belle.
I kept the midnight blue velvet pillows for our Christmas living room decor, and added these absolutely beautiful patterned pillows.
I knew I wanted a pretty, chinoiserie collection of rich, luxe pillows for my Christmas decorating, to make a chic and bold statement.
I was so excited to find these gorgeous chinoiserie floral and navy blue greek key pillows to coordinate together with our midnight velvet pillows.
Don’t worry, they don’t stop us from flopping in here every night! I love this gorgeous pattern combination – the juxtaposition of a bold geometric and a feminine floral paired with a solid to ground them. So pretty.
Don’t be afraid to try something new and mix things up! Playing with pattern can be so much fun. Contrast your patterns so it’s not too much of the same thing competing visually.
Arianna’s shop has the most beautiful, luxe pillow assortment, with so many colors, patterns and textures, as well as custom pillows and inserts.
You can find all of my fall and holiday pillow covers, plus so many more on Arianna Belle, you’ll love perusing her site!
CLOSEUP CHRISTMAS DECORATING DETAILS
Pretty ornaments, little moments on display, pretty packages tied up with bows, sparkly mercury glass…just a few things I love in here.
By the way, if you’re looking for the perfect salty/sweet smelling candle, Caramel Drizzle from Bath and Body Works is the best scented candle ever – you need some, trust me on this!
A LAST LOOK AT OUR CHRISTMAS LIVING ROOM!
I forgot to mention that I brought our blue rug from season’s past back in here to compliment our holiday color palette.
I wasn’t sure what to do at first, but I’m so happy I rotated our rugs – something I often do each season!
We love our sofas rearranged in an L-shape so we can see the full view of our tree.
It can be a little bit tight in here, but it makes it so cozy…perfect for lounging and watching Christmas movies, of course.
I also love the view from our kitchen into our living room arranged this way, you can take it all in from here.
That wraps up my tour, thank you for visiting our home, I hope you loved this year’s Christmas living room decor and all of the rich colors! If you can believe it, I’m already thinking of next year and what new color scheme I can come up with. Don’t worry, I’ll still be enjoying our festive home for the next few weeks.
