OUR CHRISTMAS DECOR: A TRADITIONAL THEME WITH CLASSIC PLAID + CHINOISERIE

|

It’s almost the end of October and my Christmas decorating will be happening in our home in the next week! As soon as November starts, our halls are already being decked. I’m so excited to share this year’s Christmas decorating theme with you. My holiday look is always a traditional one, and this year even more so. A gorgeous, classic red and blue plaid ribbon is the star of the show this year – I love to use a signature ribbon to ground my Christmas decorating theme. Paired with my blue and white chinoiserie pieces, loads of lush greenery and red berries, I can’t wait to start dressing our home for Christmas this year.

Keep reading to find out what you’ll be seeing throughout our home this coming holiday season, I hope you’ll love it as much as I do. Feel free to visit both my Amazon Shop and LTK Shop too! xo

OUR CHRISTMAS DECOR IN PLAID + CHINOISERIE

Beautiful preppy Christmas decor in red, blue and green. Holiday greenery dressed up with plaid ribbon and red berries.

I’m loving how all of these patterns and colors work together in my plaid and chinoiserie Christmas theme. Its chic, it’s preppy, it’s classic. All the things I love. Especially for the holidays.

From our luxe pillow covers to our chic plaid ribbon, ornaments and blue and white chinoiserie planters, vases and jars. I can’t wait to create this stunning, festive look in our holiday home!

Our holiday pillows from Arianna Belle are the perfect combination to compliment my plaid ribbon. A gorgeous, chinoiserie with navy, red and green – all of the colors of this year’s theme. A rich, luxe green velvet, a light green cotton/linen blend pattern that’s elegant and chic. The buffalo check from our fall living room is perfectly preppy and crisp, I love it together with this mix.

If you remember a few years ago, I went out of my decorating comfort zone and featured a red and blue holiday theme throughout our home. It was sophisticated and elegant and so classic to me.

Our blue and red Christmas tree, shown below, is one of my all-time favorites! I’m so excited to bring out my reds again this year.

I loved it so much and have been wanting to use the same color palette again ever since. This Christmas, there will be loads of red added throughout our home again, with our new plaid ribbon that is the focus of my holiday theme, and a lot of red berries to adorn our greenery.

You can find my plaid ribbon and many other beautiful ones from this Etsy shop.

I’m also using both light and dark green this year (see last year’s blue and green look), french blue, and burgundy to accent my plaid and chinoiserie story…it will be so gorgeous all together.

ELEGANT PLAID RIBBON

This gorgeous ribbon is a showstopper and will be the star of our Christmas decor this year! It’s available in 2.5″ and 4″ widths.

There’s something so nostalgic and classic about this look and I think it is going to be my favorite holiday theme to date.

Below you can shop the coordinating ribbon that you’ll also see throughout our holiday decor this year. I pulled these colors straight from the plaid ribbon. I love to use ribbon in different widths to dress up garlands, vases, stockings, gifts, and more.

FESTIVE HOLIDAY ACCENTS: GREENERY & RED BERRIES

I was so excited when I scored this gorgeous double topiary with frosted pine and berries (I’m trying to find a second one!) and two boxwood and berry topiaries, both from my local HomeSense store.

I added my beautiful new ribbon and styled them in my own chinoiserie planters to dress them up as well. I’ll add some red berry picks to the smaller ones, I think they need a little more red!

MAKE YOUR OWN HOLIDAY TOPIARY

Add red berry picks to a plain green topiary for a festive look!
Use your own pot, or buy an existing potted topiary – simply add red berry picks.

I ordered two beautiful real touch norfolk pine garlands that I’ll be using either on our living room mantel, or in our entryway – I can’t wait to get them hung up and styled with berries and ribbon.

I’ll still be using my pine garlands from the last couple of years as well throughout our home.

REAL TOUCH GARLAND

I decided to jump on the ‘real touch’ or ‘fresh touch’ greenery trend, and invest in a couple of garlands. Mine are from a local retailer, but this one linked below is an Amazon favorite.

The best way to secure garland to a shelf or mantel is with these heavy duty 3M Command hooks. These can hold up to 15 pounds so you know your garland won’t budge.

I also found some new wreaths from HomeSense (shown in my first collage) that are so lush and pretty with red berries and mixed greenery. I’ve linked a budget-friendly one at the beginning of my post, and also found this gorgeous one below, from this very popular Etsy shop.

ELEGANT CHRISTMAS WREATH

This gorgeous wreath, which is similar to the new ones I found this year, is from Etsy – it’s an investment, but will surely last for many holiday seasons.

I also bought some fresh touch cedar picks in different sizes for arranging in vases and jars, and also for fillers for my garlands if needed. I like to add extra picks and stems to garlands and wreaths to get a full, lush look.

I’m so excited to start decorating our home this year in plaid and chinoiserie and share it with all of you here! I hope you’re looking forward to getting your home ready for Christmas and I hope you’ve found some ideas and inspiration here today. Oh – and make sure to stay tuned, my kitchen reveal is finally happening SOON! xo
