OUTDOOR SUMMER TABLESCAPE IN BLUE AND WHITE
Summer entertaining should be easy. I know that when I have friends or family over, I keep it very simple – from the tablescape to the food, I like to create a feeling that’s relaxed and laid back. Welcome back to the Styled + Set Holiday Entertaining blog tour – Summer edition! If you’re coming from our very talented host of the tour, Lory, from Designthusiasm, welcome to our backyard! Lory is such a huge inspiration and her tablescapes always have me drooling. If you’re new here, I’m thrilled to have you and I hope you love it enough to stay a while! I’d love it if you signed up for my newsletter to get my weekly updates! If you’re here often, you know the drill! Come on in and relax on our new patio with me…Last week, I revealed our brand new patio makeover, so the excitement is still very much alive in our home when it comes to spending time out here! We are so happy to have an incredible space for entertaining and relaxing, that we absolutely love. You can read all about the reveal here.
It was most definitely a natural decision to keep with the theme of blue and white for this table – the main color palette of our home and patio decor and accessories. This table is simple, easy to pull together, and is very much a reflection of my personal style. If you’re up to date on my current blog posts, you may remember seeing this tablecloth in my Summer Home Tour – I used it as an added layer of pattern in our bedroom – such a great piece to coordinate with our blue and white bedding for the season. It’s fun to use things you may not normally think of, when layering and creating displays around your home. You can see my tour and bedroom here.I recently picked up these new ginger jars on a downtown excursion to Chinatown with my sisters, and I knew right away they’d be used out here on the patio table for this post. The small bowls are also from our same travels into the big city ;)I love to layer many different dishes form various sets to keep things interesting, and since I’ve been building my blue and white collection for some time now, this was the ideal setting to bring it all together. I took a TON of closeups of these pretties for you to take a really good look at…don’t kill me for going overboard :)I love the look of a layered tablescape – it’s by far my favorite way to pull an entertaining space together.Part of designing this patio was the importance of creating an extension of our home. I wanted a seamless flow from indoors to out. I did the same here when designing this table, and used my indoor pillows to create that same feeling.
There’s no reason you can’t use your good dishes and decor outside when you’re entertaining! I actually keep a lot of my ginger jars and other accessories out here now as well, because I want the feeling to be as comfortable and welcoming outside, as it is inside.
Another new addition on our patio is our bar cart, which I absolutely love…it’s so fun to style and use different glassware and accessories to create pretty vignettes. I used some gourmet sparkling water (these are actually ‘props’ in my accessories arsenal, but I would use the real thing normally!) and a few vintage inspired details and accessories to bring the book together.
I love this dispenser I picked up from HomeSense and it’s nostalgic feel. It’s the perfect compliment to my ‘props’ ;)Vintage inspired cake stands, risers, glassware and a tub filled with ice to keep bottles chilled are all pieces that work really well together here.

On a side note, I placed small dishes below my candleholders to catch all of that dripping wax! The slightest breeze can create a lot of wax…I’ll have to remember the dripless kind next time!

Thank you so much for joining me today, and for taking the time to look closely at the details of my table (I know there’s a lot of them!). There’s so much amazing talent as usual on our tour this week – the full list of bloggers is below (check back later in the week to see the rest). Next stop on the tour is Lauren from Bless’er House – you’ll love her take on a vintage patriotic table! Thank you again for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed your stay! xo
