I’ve been a little quiet this last month, working on many new projects, and today I am so excited to finally be sharing our daughter’s glam teen girl bedroom makeover! It took me a little longer than expected but we knocked it out last weekend and here it is! This bedroom went from sweet and pretty, to grown up and glam, with just a few simple updates – and what a huge transformation! You can see my design and inspiration board that I shared last month, here. I’ve partnered with Walmart once again, to bring you inspiration and ideas for decorating that you are going to love! I absolutely love the pieces we found in their Vintage Chic collection – they’ve helped us bring this bedroom from girly to glam, and we couldn’t love it more! Keep reading for more (and see the before!), I hope you love this as much as we do!
GLAM TEEN GIRL BEDROOM MAKEOVER: BRASS CHANDELIER
Do you recognize this chandelier? I was so excited when I saw that Walmart offers this beauty in their Vintage Chic collection – it’s beautiful and also very affordable, like so many pieces from the different collections available at Walmart Home. There are so many styles to choose from, and I love that you can ‘shop by style’ specifically for the look you want. We decided to use this light in our daughter’s teen girl bedroom makeover to add the perfect touch of modern glam. Contemporary and elegant, it brings in just the right amount of grown-up sophistication that we wanted in here.Taking cues from the brass finish, we decided to accent the bookshelves with brass pieces that compliment our chic fixture. We kept the decor minimal – and if you saw our son’s teen bedroom makeover last month, you’ll recognize the brass orbs (find similar ones here). He decided to change things up a bit on his shelves, so as I often do throughout our home, I rotated them and brought these very versatile pieces in here.
We added these shades to our chandelier as well – which I love to do – to bring up the elegance factor and give it a more tailored and sophisticated feel. It’s a small splurge that gives you a great option to change up the look whenever you want!
FASHION-FORWARD THINKING: A GLAM GHOST CHAIR
We wanted the desk to be clear of clutter and also chic and sophisticated. Sydney uses this space to do her makeup and her homework as well, but it easily gets filled with a whole lot of stuff. Because we brought in this gorgeous and chic little ghost chair to glam up this vanity/desk space, we needed to streamline the look to keep it clean. Isn’t this chair so pretty? She picked it and it’s exactly what she wanted – it’s girly, feminine and adds the perfect amount of fashion-forward elegance at a very affordable price – you can’t beat that for a hot, on-trend piece. We kept her original desk (similar ones linked below) and drapes (similar ones linked here), and removed the coral roman blind, which has been the main color accent in here for 10 years! We’re working on her closet as we speak – building storage and space for all of her things so we can keep the rest of her room chic and pretty. This is a small bedroom, only 9 x 12 feet, and maximizing the footprint was essential. Besides – who wants to junk up a room that is this gorgeous?? Stay tuned for that blog post in the coming weeks, the added storage space is a game-changer for us!
BEDROOM ESSENTIALS – THE PERFECT NIGHTSTANDS
Since we’re maximize space in this small teen girl bedroom makeover, we removed the two dressers, and moved one of them into the closet to free-up much needed floorspace. We complimented her new double bed (which we bought locally – I have many similar ones from Walmart linked down below!), with these perfect little nightstands, in white, to offset the grey upholstered bed and walls. They house some of her essentials and give us the added storage that was needed in here as well. The scale is perfect for the room and I love the contrast they provide against the paint color. They were another score at a great price – and the clean lines will fit any style room.We used some existing lamps that I already had (as usual, I have similar ones linked below!), and at first I thought they may be a bit too large in scale for the tables, but I really didn’t want to use lighting that is too small. She loves them and the clear base is the perfect compliment to her ghost chair too.We just love the clean-lined look in this room, and these nightstands are perfect for what we wanted. With that in mind, adding some pattern texture with the bedding was key. We bought the bedding locally and added pillows and a throw that what we already owned – again, very similar or the same pieces, all from Walmart Home’s fabulous assortment, are linked below!
SOME MORE DETAILS!
Here’s the lowdown of the rest of the room’s details…We painted the walls Stonington Gray by Benjamin Moore, and also moved our dining room rug in here. It was too small for that space, and the 6 x 9′ size fits perfectly here. The Moroccan pouf was already ours as well, and has been part of this room’s decor for a long time. I love that I was able to source everything we already owned to either the same, or very similar items in this room from Walmart – you can outfit your home so affordably with their vast online assortment. It’s like a one-stop destination. My kind of place ;)
WALL COLOR: Stonington Gray by Benjamin Moore, eggshell finish
TRIM COLOR: Ultra Pure White by Behr, semi-gloss finish
That wraps up my reveal of Sydney’s glam teen girl bedroom makeover – I would love to hear what you think of the results! I can tell you that we love it so much and are so thrilled with the fabulous pieces we scored from Walmart to complete the look in this space. It’s finally grown up, just like Sydney is starting to be, and this will last for years to come, I’m quite sure!
