Welcome to my first official fall decorating post this year, I’m so happy to be kicking it off with my fall dining room decor and tablescape. I haven’t shared a tablescape in this space in quite a while and I’m very excited to show you this laid-back, casual fall table decor with a coastal feel. You can absolutely pull off a warm, fall feel if you love coastal decor, especially if you love blue, like me!
I’m thrilled to be part of this year’s Fall Home Tour along with an incredible lineup of bloggers – all linked at the bottom of my post – hosted by my friend, Marty, of A Stroll Thru Life.
If you’re joining me from Cindy’s gorgeous fall dining room from DIY Beautify, welcome, I’m thrilled to have you here! Her space is gorgeous isn’t it?
I hope you’re inspired by this year’s fall dining room decor and tablescape, featuring a beautiful soft blue color palette. Keep reading for more!
FALL DINING ROOM DECOR WITH SOFT BLUES
These past couple of years, much of my decor has leaned toward a coastal look with a lot of blue, always anchored with a classic, elegant and sophisticated feel, along with chinoiserie elements throughout. – all things I love so much.
It’s easy to create a look that is unique to your own style – use pieces and colors that you love and that resonate with you, and it will always feel like home. I have to tell you how much I love our new 8 x 10 Majorca rug from Cailini Coastal.
I’ve swapped rugs in our dining room (and all over the house!) many, many times, and I’ve never found a rug that felt exactly right in this space.
I can honestly say, this one suits our dining room just perfectly and truly helps to elevate the look of our home. It’s the perfect compliment to our new, blue faux grasscloth wallpaper in our adjacent entryway, that we recently installed – as you can see below.
Take the tour of our updated entryway if you haven’t seen it yet!Playing off of our beautiful new blue and white rug – which also grounds our blue dining chairs as well, I added more blue and neutral accents to dress our dining room table.
I’m sharing a closer look at my table further down. For this year’s fall dining room decor, beautiful blues layered with warm neutrals help to create a warm, welcoming feeling. I layered this cozy plaid throw blanket, also from Cailini Coastal, over the chair to add a layer of warmth and visual interest.I used pillows in these same hues that you may have seen in some of my previous posts from last fall and last Christmas – I often rotate them throughout our home in different seasons.I’ve been adding more and more blue throughout our home and it just feels so good to me.
Home is where I am happiest! Creating a feeling in our home that we love – not just filled with pretty things – is essential!
TIPS ON HOW TO WARMLY DECORATE FOR FALL WITH BLUES
- I kept the blues in here this fall season soft – a beautiful compliment to beiges, creams, ivories and browns.
- Layer all those blues with more neutrals (even though blue really is a neutral too!) – dishes, candles, placemats, napkin rings.
- Add gold touches throughout – I used candlesticks scattered on the table as well as hurricanes atop the bar cabinets.
- Mix beige/brown/ivory/muted green floral tones with white – I searched for warmer toned flowers to mix with white for a muted look and to keep my centrepiece from being too bright.
A GORGEOUS FALL CENTERPIECE
I created this stunning, large-scale fall centrepiece using all faux stems arranged in one of my all-time favorite ginger jars.
This oversized ginger jar is very tall alone – about 24″ – it’s a gorgeous piece that helps to make a very big statement.I used a mix of new faux florals with some existing ones to achieve a large, full look that is soft and elegant.
Beige hydrangeas, beige peonies, mixed in with some white peonies and muted greenery, are so pretty for fall.
Don’t be afraid to go big and make a statement with an oversized centrepiece!
If you prefer, you can always remove it from the table when you’re ready to serve your guests and replace it with something smaller, or just keep candles scattered along with your serving dishes.
FALL TABLE DECOR: CASUAL, COASTAL + BEAUTIFUL!
Building off of my fall centrepiece, I created a gorgeous coastal inspired fall tablescape with layers of beautiful, soft blue block print linens, woven accessories and elegant dishes.
Accents of gold and brass throughout the space help to add richness and warmth for the season.
I’m a sucker for anything gold, so you’ll definitely find it throughout our home all year round.
I also love to mix and match my dishes for a more casual look.I used a different setting for the two chairs facing each other to mix it up a little bit and make it interesting. Our table and dining room are small, although this table does have a leaf that we also use.
I’ll often plate the food in the kitchen and then serve it, or lay out a buffet for guests on our kitchen island.
They’re all such gorgeous, versatile, quality pieces, and I absolutely love that I can use them now for the fall season and also outdoors for spring and summer.I chose to use the rectangular tablecloth for that reason – to use on our patio table as well.
This size is 60″ x 120″ and I folded and ironed one of the ends to make it fit our round 54″ table – it fits perfect, you’d never know it! Plus, I can use the full length when using our leaf as well.
Get creative when designing a tablescape for fall, or any season! Mix and match dishes and glassware, add layers of texture and prints to create something personal that your guests will love too.
