HOW TO EFFORTLESSLY REVAMP YOUR FALL BEDROOM DECOR FOR LESS THAN $20
If you know me well, then you know I love to change up our bedding very frequently. I’ve written several blog posts dedicated to this topic! I also get so many requests about all the different looks I’ve had, I created a SHOP page where you can find all of my different looks and shop them (find it here). I always love the look of a freshly styled bedroom each season, and I often love to find ways to do it without spending a fortune. I usually rotate my bedding sets between seasons, and last fall, I invested in all new bedding, although it wasn’t overly expensive, I still spent the money on creating an entirely new look in our room. I still love that look (see it here), and that gorgeous navy bedding set, and was about to use it again this season, but then I had this idea – I wanted to challenge myself to keep the same set I’ve been using since this past spring – which is quite a long time for me, and, was also new at the time. I thought it would be interesting to use the same set for the third season in a row and see how I could completely change the look. You can see the difference in my spring and summer bedroom looks, here and here. I wanted to find simple ways to revamp the look of our fall bedroom decor without spending any money at all on accessories or new bedding. It’s truly amazing what you can do with the pieces you already own, it’s just a matter of finding ideas of the look you want, and a little trial and error to get there. Sometimes it works the first time, and others take a little longer. This look was very simple to achieve – it was effortless, actually! I couldn’t be happier with the results… It’s a chic, luxe bedroom retreat with a rich and sophisticated palette. I can’t wait to spend the crisp fall nights relaxing and staying warm in here! Come on in and tell me what you think…

SWAP OUT YOUR EXISTING LAMPS OR LAMPSHADES
As so many of you already know, I am all about shopping my own home, rotating, reusing, repurposing…I LOVE to move things around our home on a regular basis. Decorating does not get any less expensive than this! I’ve done this for as long as I can remember, when I moved out of my parent’s home, and still do it now. I even did it in my bedrooms growing up – we were always redecorating! Rearranging furniture is another way to improve a room and get a whole new vibe going without spending a dime. I didn’t paint, I didn’t even purchase anything new here. This simple idea of bringing in my lamps from our living room (which I used in the dining room this past summer, see them here), was such a great decision. You’ll notice I had done the same this past summer, with a different set of lamps – it was the best way to create a whole new feeling in our space.
The navy shades and brass base are gorgeous and add a luxe feel in our space. Another great way to update your space is to change only your lampshades. It’s a fabulous way to breathe new life into your bedroom and the cost is very minimal. You can find great deals at Walmart, HomeSense, HomeGoods, Target, so many places to pick up inexpensive lampshades.
These lamps were the perfect addition to this space, and work so beautifully with my white and navy blue color palette. I really love the way they punctuate our fall bedroom decor and draw your eye right in toward the bed. I’m huge on symmetry and these flank our upholstered bed beautifully, creating a gorgeous symmetrical focal point in our room.
MIX AND MATCH YOUR BEDDING PIECES
This hotel style bedding from Williams Sonoma Home is classic and tailored, and I wanted to keep the look clean and simple. Last spring I paired it with stunning contrasting chinoiserie floral print bedding, and this past summer I used some crisp, striped euro shams with a nautical vibe to layer with it. This season, I opted to use the shams from my bedding from last fall. Because I have several bedding sets, this one is a little easier for me to do, but you can achieve the same idea with pillow cases if you don’t have extra shams. I’m still using my same greek key, labrynth embroidered sheets also, and we’re still loving them. The cotton is crisp and durable, but so soft and luxurious too. They pick up on the detail of our sunburst mirror which I also love.
ADD A LITTLE LUXE WITH LEOPARD AND FAUX FUR
I loooooooove leopard. To me, the fall season is the best time of year to pull it out. I featured some gorgeous leopard fashion and home decor finds in my Weekend Favorites recently, with so many fabulous finds – you can see them all here. Of course, it’s a timeless classic that you can incorporate all throughout the year, without a doubt. Since I love to constantly move things around, my leopard pillows have popped in and out of various spaces since last fall, when I first used them in our bedroom. They’re back in here for another appearance, and our bedroom looks completely different than last fall, even though my color palette is more or less the same.
Last year, I layered them with a few different throw pillows, with a heavy dose of pattern play thrown into the mix. This year, keeping with my preppy and tailored look, I opted for only the single pattern on the bed. That said, I wanted to bring in some added texture to play off f the animal print leopard theme, so I chose to layer on my gorgeous faux fur throw. This is so soft, warm and luxurious, I cannot tell you. And I love how it balances the warm tones of the pillow and brings your eye back to the foot of the bed. I also love those warm tones and how the mirror picks up on them too.
COMPLIMENT THE LOOK WITH SOLID PILLOWS
Keeping it all clean and simple, but still luxe and layered, I wanted a rich, jewel-tone to accent my leopard pillow. Adding my solid navy blue velvet pillows behind the leopard print, helps to ground the grouping of throw pillows and makes the pattern pop more since the base of the grouping is a dark, solid fabric. I’m really loving the clean look, with just the right amount of pattern. A little bit luxe and a little bit sexy, it’s a great balance of masculine and feminine, which I always love to bring to my spaces.
BRING IN SOME FRESH BLOOMS TO COMPLETE THE LOOK
I saved the best for last, since this was my huge $20 splurge! Of course we all need some fresh flowers now and then right? Even though I’m a lover of faux florals just the same, and I use them year round throughout our home (I talk about this in my fall decorating tips post, which you can read here), I certainly will opt for fresh blooms any time I can! These were on sale at the grocery store (even better!) and for less than $20, I was able to create a vibrant and luscious bouquet to accent my rich, new fall bedroom decor.I wanted to use more rich, jewel-tones tones here as well for a strong pop of color. I know they’ll only last about a week, but I’m completely fine with that. This was a small little splurge that I’ll replace if I feel like it, especially since I didn’t spend any money on the decor items or bedding in the room. Arranged in one of me forever favorite blue and white ginger jars, this little gem completes the look and compliments our freshly styled bedroom. These are a mix of carnations in fuschia and red, paired together with these beautiful green stems – I am really not up on my botanical terminology, so please tell me the name of these if you know! I do know they’re pretty common and you can find them all over. They also last forever, which I love, and they’re never expensive. I really love carnations, which I know many people don’t. I think they’ve gotten a pretty bad rap over the years, as cheap and unattractive flowers, but there are so many different varieties out there! If you gather a bunch that’s nice and full they can really be beautiful. I love to use them in tonal bouquets also, which I did on this Thanksgiving tablescape (here) a couple of years ago. I don’t care what anyone says, I think they’re beautiful! I’m very happy with how this room turned out, I had a vision in my head and a goal in mind and I’m so happy I was able to bring a whole different look to our fall bedroom decor…I’m even happier it cost me next to nothing! You can easily use these tips and tricks to revamp your bedroom and create a luxurious retreat you’ll love to stay cozy and warm in this fall. Thanks so much for reading with me! xo
Hi Dana,
Thanks so much for your message – isn’t it so much fun to rotate? It’s so true about getting to see things we haven’t – it’s like Christmas sometimes haha! Your floral arrangement sounds stunning, aren’t carnations so pretty?? I am exactly the same about keeping things clean – I cannot focus otherwise! Thank you so much for the kind words, I can’t tell you how happy it makes me, and I am so grateful you take the time to read and visit…it’s absolutely my pleasure to share my home with you!! xox
I love your philosophy of changing things around. I move things all the time and rotate different piece from storage and room to room. It is FUN! Plus I get to see things I haven’t seen in a while. I bought some white carnations last week and mixed them with verigated ivy from my garden in blue and white vases and I loved the way they looked and smelled. I hadn’t bought any in years. I am as crazy clean as you are, because it makes me uncomfortable to be in a messy dirty space, so I love that everything always looks so pretty and clean in your home. Love the way your blog is organized and that you reference everything, I know it is a lot of work. Thank you for sharing!
