CHIC & SIMPLE SUMMER KITCHEN DECORATING IDEAS
Summer has been a whirlwind for us so far! We just came back from a quick family roadtrip to Niagara Falls – I’ve never been and we never took our kids until now! They’re young adults, so we made this a quick, few days just to get away….it was SO much fun! The falls are truly spectacular to witness and we spent some time at Niagara-on-the-Lake, which is a gorgeous, picturesque wine region, so our kids had their first winery experience and they loved it! It reminded us a little bit of Napa Valley also. The town is historic and so quaint, we all truly enjoyed our family time together, we don’t get so much of it anymore! Last month we went to Nashville, I was horribly sick in between both trips, so I’m behind on everything…but slowly catching up! Today, I’m finally sharing some chic and simple summer kitchen decorating ideas. If you toured our summer living room last week, then you know what I mean by simple. Easy decorating with just a few pops of gorgeous green paired with my favorite blues for the most part. Statement florals, a chic rug pulled from storage, colorful linens, some fresh herbs and suddenly, it’s summer in our kitchen. Oh – and new, very chic roman shades that coordinate with our new living room drapes. Come and take a quick tour with me today, I hope you enjoy.

SUMMER KITCHEN DECORATING IDEAS
I need simplicity in my life! I am always running, with so many items on my to-do list. So, I’ve kept this space rather simple and I’ve been continuing to layer in more blues in here, which I love.
I’ve always had my blue and white chinoiserie pieces in our kitchen, but the few additional blue pieces I’ve layered in over the past year have helped to create such a beautiful look and feel.
One very simple summer decorating idea is to add color to your kitchen. Our solid blue ginger jars are a favorite of mine and I’ve had them for a few years.
They sit so prettily by our stove. Our blue and white lamps by the sink and my blue kettle on the stove also add the layer of color I was craving in here. You’ve seen them before in our spring kitchen.
We’ve layered gorgeous pops of green throughout our home this season, and the look is just so pretty. It echoes all of our lush greenery outside, which we love so much.
Adding in just a few sprinkles of gorgeous green breathes beautiful life into this space for summer. Together with beautiful blues, the look is chic, simple, summery and fresh.
Gorgeous faux snowball hydrangeas and our rug, pulled out from our storage space, some fresh herbs in pretty containers, beautiful green block print napkins, scalloped dishes and a green ginger jar that was also here for spring. That is it! So simple and just so pretty.
The best part, nothing in here is new – except our roman shades, which were gifted to me for this Instagram Reel. Keep reading for more details on them!

OUR CHIC NEW ROMAN SHADES
Our new remote control roman shades are stunning! We just love the light and airy feel they have and it’s so nice to have them coordinate with new living room drapes as well. They truly are such a chic addition to our summer kitchen.
The pop of blue is so pretty over the sink and the whiter fabric is bright and fresh looking. Do you notice how by simply bringing the greenery over here makes this vignette pop?
Color is such a powerful decorating tool!
The addition of the blue trim (G31) is truly so beautiful in our kitchen. I love the classic pattern, which is sort of a greek key motif. Previously, we had shades with a large-scale, blue gingham pattern here for winter and spring, but I wanted a lighter look for summer and these are perfect.
Stay tuned, I may try something new for fall as well!

A FEW MORE SUMMER DECORATING IDEAS
Fresh seasonal herbs are the perfect accessory, especially in a beautiful container, which always elevates the look. I love a lush basil plant and it helps draw your eye to the back of our kitchen.
Other simple summer decorating ideas are creating a beautiful, lush floral arrangement as a centerpiece and using beautiful linens and dishes on display to add more color.
My faux snowball hydrangeas have been around for a long time – I’ve used them for several summers, I just love them so much. They’re so pretty and the light green is the perfect addition of color.
These chic hand block print napkins, green scalloped dishes and bamboo flatware are on repeat in our summer kitchen.
They bring more color to our island and are just too pretty to keep tucked away. You’ll see these later this summer as well, in an outdoor summer tablescape coming soon.
Another summer decorating idea is to change your rug for something bright and beautiful featuring your colors. I’ve had this beautiful, custom rug from Palindrome Home for a few years, I pulled it out of storage to add bright, chic pattern to our summer kitchen. It’s one of our favorites!
It’s so easy to add simple touches of summer to your home! It doesn’t have to be stressful or complicated. Just a few layers of your colors pulled in with florals, containers, dishes, linens and if you switch your rugs often like I do, that’s always an easy way to bring a new seasonal look.
This is my styling recipe for mostly every season in our home, along with artwork, books and pillow covers. I always love to use color to breathe new seasonal life to our home, along with layers of beautiful pattern. Rotating items around, sometimes from room to room can completely change a space and it’s free. Thank you for reading with me today, as always! I hope you’ve found some useful summer kitchen decorating ideas for your space. xo
You’re very welcome! Thank you for the kind words! This was brand new back then and we feel in love right away. It sounds like our taste is identical, ha! You’re very sweet and I truly appreciate you being here! xo
Tamara, thank you so much for answering my question about your countertops. I am so impressed that you picked out that color and stone 10 years ago. Such a wise choice because it is still very in today. I am like you, blue and white makes me happy. I have so many of the similar items of yours , Chinoiserie lamps and vases, throw pillows, dishes, etc. I just love looking at your kitchen, living room, dining room, and entranceway. Thank you for sharing with everyone!
Hi Nan! Thank you so much! My beautiful Mama in Heaven always had her blue and white and she inspires everything I do! I love that you love it too and have had for so long – it is just so classic and timeless and makes me happy! Congratulations on your move – I’m sure that was a big change! Our counters are CaesarStone Quartz and the color is Misty Carerra – it’s not really veigned but more spotted grey (not like granite though) – they didn’t have many Quartz options with veigning 16 years ago! They are super durable though and we love them. I hope you find what you’re looking for! Thank you for reading with me! xo
Tamara, since the 1990’s my kitchens have always been blue and white. And I do admire yours so much. Now, we downsized into an over 55 house and the kitchen is dated ( we did paint the cabinets white) so we are currently looking at quartz and tile backsplash. Would you mind sharing your countertop color? Or is it marble? I want white with subtle veining. Thank you so much!
Thank you very much, I’m so happy you like it! xo
Gorgeous , as always, Tamara. All that blue and green is breath taking!
Thank you very much, Sally! I’m thrilled you like everything – I’ll take understated any day! And I’m finally feeling better, thank you so much! xo
I love your kitchen summer styling -understated but still elegant! The new Roman shades are gorgeous and thank you for giving their design details. Hope you’re feeling much better!
