If you’ve been reading with me for a while, then you know blue is a dominant color and theme throughout our home.
I’ve used more and more of this neutral color over the years, and I just can’t get enough of it…
The first summer decor idea that I want to share, is just that – use of color.
For me, it’s blue and every space in our home has a touch of this calming, neutral color in some way.
Blue water and blue skies are everything I love about summer and for our home, it is the perfect way to have a fresh coastal feel that speaks to the best season of the year.
You can do the same with whatever color speaks to you – green, yellow, coral, lavender, anything – add touches of your favorite tone around your home…the possibilities are endless.
I love to use my signature blue and whites that have also become more prominent throughout our home over the years…to say it’s an addiction for me is an understatement!
Which leads me to the second summer decor idea I want to share with you – incorporate a touch of blue and white.
Blue and white chinoiserie is a staple in our home year round, but it is truly the perfect touch to add for the summer months in any space – modern or traditional, it stands the test of time.
I love to create a bold statement with multiple blue and white pieces arranged together.
Using them this way adds a fresh pop of color, a nod to classic decor and always looks gorgeous with florals of any kind.
Here goes summer decor idea number three – make a bold statement with florals and go BIG!
Hydrangeas are another staple around here and this summer, I’ve added a few different kinds of stunning light green hydrangeas to my existing light blue ones that I styled throughout our home this passed spring.
Seriously – what’s not to love about a large, elegant arrangement that welcomes your guests?
You can achieve the look with just about any floral you love.
I typically use faux flowers, since they last forever.
With such a bold statement using flowers and multiple jars and containers this way, the rest of your styling should be simple and understated.
Summer styling tip number three – use clean-lined, simple accessories in your seasonal color to keep the look cohesive and tie it all together.
I used layered books in my color palette to create the look – they’re the perfect accessory in any vignette.
Lastly, for my final styling tip, I love to use organic, nature-inspired pieces that speak to the ocean and the earth.
Here, I used some favorite agate bookends (shop similar) and this stunning scented candle in a handmade bowl that emulates a large, beautiful seashell for me.

This space is one of my favorites in our home, it’s open and bright, and welcomes our guests with the prettiest blue faux grasscloth wallpaper.
We installed it last summer, and it was one of the best design decisions I’ve ever made!
It sets the tone for home, in color, mood and style – and for summer decorating it creates the perfect backdrop for my styling…and it looks amazing all year round!

I absolutely love the sawgrass wallpaper! I would never think to do it in a color, but the blue is stunning. I’m also a fan of transom windows and this allows more light throughout the rest of the house.
