OUR HOME UPDATES THIS LAST YEAR: LIGHTING, HARDWARE + FURNITURE
If you’ve been following along with me on my blogging journey, you know that recently we’ve updated some of the rooms in our home with lighting, paint, hardware and a few new furniture pieces. Our home updates this last year have made a significant difference for us – it feels brighter, lighter and more sophisticated as a whole in our home, and we couldn’t love it any more.
Our dining room went through a dramatic change (see it here), our entryway got a mini makeover (click here to read it), our living room went from eclectic to elegant (see more here), our kitchen was updated with brass and chinoiserie details (see the updates here and here) and our bedroom also just received a small refresh with the main elements in the space (for more click here). Affiliate links are provided throughout this post – see my full disclosure policy here.Today I’ve gathered all of the new pieces from our home updates this last year that have helped us make these changes. I know you’ll find this post an extremely useful resource… I get so many questions about where to find it all – and now, it’s all here in one place!
Table of Contents
THE NEW LIGHTING THROUGHOUT OUR HOME
You’ve heard it before – lighting is like the jewelry in your home. That statement could not be more true! I am obsessed with lighting, and we’ve made some big changes in almost every space in our home. We’ve added new pendants in the kitchen – both over the island and sink, and the brass detailing just makes me so happy :) Shop our island pendants here, and our sink pendant here.
You’ve seen our new, recent living room lighting I’m sure, and again, the brass makes this space come to life. I love that I can add shades to these chandeliers if I choose, for a more tailored look, but they are stunning as is, and I couldn’t be happier with how they look. You can find our chandeliers here. Our wall sconces have an old-world feel to them that I love as well. You can shop them here. Our dining room chandelier is a serious showstopper and everyone who comes into our home comments on it! I love it. We went large in scale on purpose, to bring some drama to the small footprint in this space. I am a huge fan of oversized lighting! Shop our chandelier here.
Our most recent lighting update is in our master bedroom, another large-scale fixture that makes a very bold statement! I love the modern but feminine lines of the shade and all the gorgeous brass detailing of course! You can shop it here.
OUR NEW BRASS HARDWARE – KITCHEN PULLS AND DOOR HANDLES
More gorgeous jewelry! Hardware can completely transform your spaces as well…it’s the small details that make all the difference. We loved our hardware before, but now we really love it. The warmth of the brass drawer and cabinet pulls brightens our kitchen so much and the contrast against the black island is stunning. Shop our pulls here.
Our new kitchen faucet from last summer brings an elegant touch to our white Ikea farm sink. I love the traditional lines and the soft brushed finish. I recently shared that I will be updating our faucet again (read about it here), but make no mistake, this is still one of my favorite items in our kitchen. Shop our faucet here.
Last year, we also added all new door handles throughout our home, and let me tell you, they made such a HUGE change. Like everything else, we loved the handles and hardware we previously had, but these ones add so much elegance and sophistication to our home! The brass coordinates with all of our new lighting and they truly complete the look in our home, and the glass doorknobs are such an elegant touch. Shop our glass door knobs here and our front door handle here.
THE NEW FURNITURE PIECES THAT HAVE BRIGHTENED OUR HOME
We’ve been adding more and more light colored pieces in our home, and these recent pale blue chairs are so pretty in our newly updated dining room. The grey walls with the light blue is such a pretty mix. I admit I have a lot of chairs, and the fun part is I can rotate and mix and match if I choose. They were all relatively inexpensive, so I don’t feel guilty all ;) You can find these blue chairs (also in other colors) here. Our new dining room table is much lighter than the cherry color of our previous one. This is more of a medium-toned wood color, and I admit, it’s a little darker than I expected it to be. That said, I love the way it brightens the room and adds a casual elegance as well.Oval with the leaf, or round without it, it’s a gorgeous addition to our home. You can shop our table here. Our Chinese Chippendale kitchen stools are one of my favorite updates! I’d had my eye on them for quite some time and I love the pickled finish – natural wood with the white wash – for a casual feel in our kitchen. Shop them here.I’m thinking about painting them ivory and recovering the seats with new fabric (you know I love a new project!), which I think would be amazing. Our new white sofas are take the cake! They have totally changed this room and I could not love them more! They have the most beautiful greek key arm detail with bras nailhead trim, and I love having a single seat for a more tailored and refined look. We chose Zulu Vanilla for the fabric – a warm, creamy ivory. Shop our sofas here.I love the sophistication and elegant look of the skirt detail, and although this look can be a little bit dressier, you can dress it down just as easily with casual pillows and throw blankets too. We lounge on these every night!Lastly, and the latest of our home updates this last year, is our new upholstered bed. We changed the look drastically from our dark and much taller headboard, to this lighter, softer look, and we absolutely love everything about it. You can shop it here.
That’s about all of our home updates this last year – we’ve made quite a few changes that I think have truly helped to elevate the look and feel of our home. I’m always looking for a project and ways to bring newness to our home – stay tuned for some new, fun makeovers and updates coming very soon! xo
