LOOKING BACK AT 2017 FAVORITES
Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and hopefully you had the chance to get some rest, and spend quality time with your friends and family. We are actually still on vacation until next week (woohoo!), so things have been slow moving in our house. That’s just fine with me. It’s been quite a while since we’ve all been home together spending downtime and lazy days around the house. Although I have to pat myself on the back, for getting every bit of Christmas packed up and put away – it feels like a breath of fresh air in our home right now. And I tend to clean and do laundry all the time, so not always so lazy for me haha. Nonetheless it’s been so nice having my family around the house. I had mentioned I’d be taking a little break from blogging, but still wanted to pop in to share some of my favorite blog posts from 2017 with you. What a year it was. We tackled quite a few projects around our home (although not all are listed here), and today, I want to bring you some of my personal favorites, and some of yours too. Before I continue, I want to thank you all, once again, for taking the time out of your busy day to read along and spend some time here with me. I truly am so grateful! So let’s have a look back at the past year, shall we?

I can honestly say, it’s still basically the same, except I must admit, I’ve fallen out of my workout routine and only just starting to get back to it now. That’s ok, it happens to all of us, right? It’s one of my goals this year to get back to it – stay tuned for a post on my goals for the year. You can read all about the tips and tricks I use to keep our lives organized right here. I hope you find it helpful!FAVORITE POST #2 –ONE CONSOLE TABLE FOUR DIFFERENT WAYS Next up, is one of my personal favorites, a study in styling – I shared four ways to style a console table from all neutrals to blue and white, to a colourful mix of favorite pieces. Below is a glimpse of two looks from that post. You can read the full post here. FAVORITE POST #3 – HOW TO STYLE OPEN KITCHEN SHELVES Because I love styling so much, and I love to always switch things up, sharing it with you is the obvious thing to do! In this post, I’m showing three different looks that I love to use, with a variety of dishes and accessories styled along with some of my staples. See the full post here.FAVORITE POST #4 –3 WAYS TO STYLE YOUR COFFEE TABLE OR OTTOMAN Naturally, since styling things in different ways is favorite thing to do, I have to share this one with you too ;) I loved coming up with a few different looks for our living room ottoman – this post has great tips that anyone can use, you most definitely want to read this one! See the full post right here.FAVORITE POST #5 – SPRING HOME TOUR Home tours are always popular posts, and this one was one of your favs from last year (and mine too!). The change of seasons always brings a new challenge when it comes to decorating and finding ways to use seasonal accents without going over the top. For me, it’s often through color and texture and a few seasonal touches. Visit this post here and get inspired for this coming Spring too!FAVORITE POST #6 – SUMMER HOME TOUR We live in a northern climate, where we don’t see full green foliage outside sometimes until June! So this was a fun post to create. Using fresh cut greenery from our yard, and mixing it up with a variety of blues, was the perfect way to bring in the feeling the beautiful warm temperatures outdoors. Here are a few shots from my tour – you can read the full post here.
FAVORITE POST #7 – BACKYARD PATIO MAKEOVER This one was a labor of love in the truest sense! We spent many hours getting our backyard just perfect for Summer entertaining – from unusually cold, wet and rainy weather to having little free to time to actually do the work, we were finally able to reveal this space just in time for the Summer months! Luck was not on our side last year weather-wise, but the days we did get sunshine, you can bet we spent them out here this new ‘extension’ of our home. Hands down, my personal favorite blog post of the year. Can’t wait to get back out there this year! You can see the full tour here.
FAVORITE POST #8 – KIDS’ BATHROOM MAKEOVER Small but mighty, this room makeover is another one high on the list for me, as it was an opportunity for me to make a big impact on a very small budget. I always love to find creative ways to make a statement without spending a lot of money and with a few tweaks and a small investment, this bathroom yielded fabulous results. We’re still looking at replacing the vanity and toilet, but if you want to talk about getting big bang for your buck, this is it…see the before and after here.
FAVORITE POST #9 – FALL HOME TOUR Another full home tour made the cut, this one from last Fall. I went with a palette of rich colors paired with warm metals, and lots of texture to create the seasonal look in our home. Again, using fresh cut foliage from the yard is all you need to make a simple yet strong seasonal statement. Take the full tour here.FAVORITE POST #10 – MASTER BATHROOM MAKEOVER Our master bathroom is my favorite makeover up to date. Our first time joining in on the One Room Challenge blogging event, we tackled this mini reno in just over six weeks and let me tell you, it is night and day. The before was pretty, but the after, is heaven. We love this little retreat of ours, and couldn’t be happier with the outcome. See it all right here.
FAVORITE POST #11 – OUTDOOR ENTERTAINING Bring the indoors out, for a dining experience that will truly leave a lasting impression on your guests. I love to create the feeling of an outdoor room, and this tablescape and setting is a great way to achieve it. See it all right here.
FAVORITE POST #12 – A CASUAL AND RUSTIC TABLE Another favorite post of mine was this easy and simple table that you can pull together in minutes for casual entertaining. I loved this look in our kitchen and how warm and inviting it feels. Everyone gathers in the kitchen, no matter the occasion, so make it as welcoming as possible! See it all right here.FAVORITE POST #13 – A CHRISTMAS TABLESCAPE WITH TARTAN , NAVY, GREEN AND GOLD Even though this is a recent post, I wanted to share at least one from this past Christmas – this tablescape was my favorite post from the season! I loved the colors and the mix of classic tartan with rich gold and elegant chinoiserie.
