COASTAL CHIC LIVING ROOM DECOR FOR SUMMER
Welcome to my coastal chic living room, where things are easy, laid back and welcoming.
This year, I kept things very simple for the summer season, and only updated our pillow covers, restyled the trays on our ottoman, brought back my previous lamps and added some majesty palms for greenery.
Those few, simple changes make all the difference and help to create a coastal themed living room look that I love so much.
Call it Hamptons style or coastal decor, either way, it’s become my favorite look in our home. I love blues and always incorporate them throughout my decor, something I’ve been doing more and more through the years.
Blue hues are the perfect way to create relaxing and stylish coastal living rooms, bringing together the soothing vibes of the coast and an added touch of summer flair.
If you missed it, you can visit my updated summer entryway that we just wallpapered in a faux blue grasscloth – which is also a nod to this gorgeous coastal design living room look.
I kept our bookshelves styled very similar to my spring living room decor, and only swapped out a few jars.
This is such a busy time of year, and I needed to keep my sanity! So… simple summer decorating it is.

COASTAL CHIC HAMPTONS INSPIRED BLUE & WHITE PILLOWS
Our new pillow covers from Arianna Belle, bring in the perfect coastal chic living room look that I was after.
She helped me find the perfect pillow combination to achieve this look and I could not love them more.
I always get asked what we do with all the pillows in here when we lounge in here.
Very simple, they get thrown on the floor…hence the term throw pillow. I do admit, I’m very particular with how my pillows are displayed though, so each night when I pack it up before bed, they get neatly placed back in their appropriate places.
Karate chop and all. Even my hubby does it and has perfected his chop, ha!
If you know me well, then you know that beautiful pillows are always a must for me in my decor.
I love to change them every season and they get rotated throughout our home.
Nothing makes a statement more than gorgeous pillows! These ones have stolen my heart…
I even ordered the striped fabric to recover our barstools in our kitchen this summer, and will be using similar fabrics to the floral and animal print ones in my new home office.

DISPLAYING A CORAL COLLECTION
On our ottoman, I corralled my favorite coral sculptures and mixed in some of my pale blue ginger jars – all in different heights to create dimension and visual interest.

This year, I went all green and am loving it so much! I chose the 10′ BH Balsam Fir Garland 2-pack, the second garland is in our entryway, stay tuned for that post coming later.
You’ll recognize the trays, books and some coral, also from my spring living room. Here, I wanted the look to be more monochromatic, a bit similar to my summer tour two years ago.
I just love the layers of soft blues and creamy whites you see on display today. The perfect way to create a coastal chic living room.
CORAL SCULPTURE
Enhance your coastal chic living room decor with a Coral Sculpture, bringing a touch of seaside beauty and elegance to your space.
I love to use books in my decor and I love to color coordinate them for a cohesive look when I can.
DECORATING TIP
Remove book covers and jackets for a cleaner look in your home. I will leave them on, but I’ll also remove them since most hardcover coffee table books are a solid color – this allows for a simplified display.
A ROOM WITH A COASTAL CHIC VIEW
I love this view, looking into the front of our home.
Our new, blue faux grasscloth walls in our summer entryway have such a big impact and compliment our coastal chic home living room decor so beautifully.
PORCELAIN FISHBOWL
Add coastal charm to your living room with a Floral Blue & White Porcelain Fishbowl, a perfect pot for your favorite plant.

Our new rug, which made it’s debut in our spring living room is the perfect neutral piece that helps to tie all of our spaces together.
Yes! Believe it or not, blue is a neutral! Think denim, blue waters and skies…
Blue just makes me happy, it’s that simple.

Over the years, I’ve used blue more and more, and I’ll never get tired of this calming color. My mama would be so in love with our summer living room decor.
Our entryway refresh has her style written all over it – visit or newest entryway refresh. I miss her every single day (I miss both of my parents terribly, I unfortunately lost them both in the last two years), but this all brings me so much comfort, as it reminds me of her.
She had such impeccable style and it has impacted me in every way.
We’re thinking about possibly painting our walls white in here, which would be a huge undertaking, the ceilings are eleven feet.
This color is Collingwood by Benjamin Moore – a beautiful greige – but I think a beautiful creamy white would be stunning!
Or possibly a very pale blue. I’d also really love to add moldings to the upper walls. We aren’t sure yet, but it’s been on my mind. Stay tuned, it may just happen eventually.
Thank you so much for joining me in our coastal chic living room. I hope you find as much joy as I do in discovering creative ways to incorporate blue living room decor, beautifully capturing the essence of coastal living.

You’re so kind, thank you so much. My Mother was truly such an inspiration in so many ways…I miss her dearly. I say paint away! I am ready for it too!! Good luck with your project and happy summer to you as well! xo
This was a lovely post made more beautiful by the complimentary mentioning of your mother. She sounds like an enjoyable woman. I look forward to seeing the wall color changed. I too am considering white. In Farrow and Ball ot a BM color. I have a similar color to yours, BM Shaker Beige. So tired of deep dark khaki walls. This winter they were depressing to look at 😒. I like your blue walls in the foyer and imagine white will look better! Happy summer!
Erica you’re the sweetest! Thank you so much my friend! Happy Summer! xo
