THE BEST PUMPKIN BREAD RECIPE WITH GLAZED TOPPING
There’s something so special about the fall season, isn’t there? When the temperatures start to really change, so does my recipe arsenal. I love to cook, bake and create a warm, welcoming home for our very busy family. We’re always on the go and with everyone in and out all the time, with so much going on, I love to make sure everyone feels a sense of comfort and calm in our home and kitchen. Today I’m sharing a family favorite recipe from my Aunt Jo, that I modified slightly – the best glazed pumpkin bread you’ll ever try! It definitely evokes all those warm, fuzzy feelings you get when it starts to get cold out. The kind of recipe that feeds your soul (and belly!). You’ll love this pumpkin bread as much as we do, I promise!

I don’t always make the glazed topping for this recipe – and it is just as delish without it, especially slathered with butter, yummmm.
That said, the glaze is a super simple addition that adds another layer of flavor and texture.

Recipe Notes
TO MAKE THE GLAZED TOPPING:
Simply mix some confectioner's sugar in a bowl with a little bit of milk at a time until you get your desired consistency. You want it be able to pour it on top of your loaf, not have to spread it. It should not be too runny or too thick.
This is a very moist loaf recipe, which is why it’s so good! You really want to ensure that it’s baked enough, but is still moist.
All ovens vary, but in our gas oven, the one hour timeframe is just right.
I always like the toothpick to come out clean, with the tiniest bit of the loaf stuck to it. If it is completely clean, that’s ok too, although it may be slightly dryer.
TO MAKE THE GLAZED TOPPING:
- Scoop desired amount of confectioner’s sugar into a bowl.
- Slowly add a tiny bit of milk at a time and stir.
- Glaze should be loose enough to pour over, but not runny.
- If it’s too thick, it will be more like frosting…you don’t want that here.
I love how beautiful the rich color of my pumpkin bread looks served on my platter and blue dishes. Presentation is just as important as taste!
