CLASSIC CHRISTMAS DINING ROOM DECORATING: CHIC CHINOISERIE, PLAID, TOILE WITH GORGEOUS FLORALS AND GREENERY

| |

Welcome to our classic Christmas dining room – a chic and elegant space, decorated with timeless sophistication that’s effortless to achieve. I’ve kept our space very simple this year, it continues with our classic Christmas theme, as it is through the rest of our home. Our homes tell a story, and this year for Christmas I wanted ours to say classic, warm, welcoming, enveloping and happy – plaid, velvet, timeless toile, chic chinoiserie and lush, layered greenery. I would love for you to visit the rest of our Christmas home if you haven’t seen each space already. Our Christmas living room, Christmas kitchen, Christmas entryway and of course, our classic Christmas tree – each space is decorated with continuity and visual flow that I think you’ll love and be inspired by – even if it’s for next year! I also shared a gorgeous Christmas tablescape in our dining room earlier this fall, classic and simply styled, perfect for your Christmas or New Year’s celebration. If you’re hosting a party, our holiday drink station is the perfect dose of chic! For now, come and join me in our Christmas dining room and get inspired to welcome your guests, or create a beautiful ambiance for just you and your family this Christmas.

OUR CHRISTMAS DINING ROOM

As you enter our home, our dining room is immediately on your left and faces the front of our home. It’s a small space, only about 9 x 10 feet, which is why we’ve opted to keep the walls open, with transom detailing for an airy look that visually expands our space.

We have wine and liquor storage in our small cabinets and more storage in the transition/hallway area – inside our buffet, which holds our china and glassware.

Today I’ve kept our table round without the leaf, where we can comfortably seat six. We’ve even squeezed nine or ten (with the leaf), which makes for a very cozy setting!

Even though our home is on the smaller side, it takes a lot of time to create an entire holiday look throughout our home – as I’m sure you know! So much planning and work goes into decorating for Christmas.

To take some of that stress off my plate, I often decorate our dining room very simply, yet still cohesive with our Christmas decor. If you’re like me, you need simple sometimes too! This year’s look was easy to achieve with just a few, key elements that help tell the story I wanted to create.

BOWS, PLAID AND CHINOISERIE DETAILS

One of those key elements that I’ve used in our Christmas dining room decorating, are the most beautiful toile bows from Cailini Coastal, that have adorned each space in our home this Christmas. I love these beauties – they add so much elegance and style throughout, with a timeless feel and nod to the past that I love.

They are truly so gorgeous anywhere I’ve used them. Here, simply tied to our wall sconces, they draw your eye into the space and over to our gallery wall.

They’re the perfect, elegant Christmas touch and coordinate so beautifully with our chinoiserie planters with greenery as well. This is another key element that I’ve used in this space. These planters are some of my favorites that I found last year and were perfect for creating my Christmas story this year as well.

Another key element in our classic Christmas dining room is plaid – I’ve layered a classic and cozy plaid throw on the settee, to add warmth and festive flare to our dining room.

What’s so beautiful about our toile bows is they’re actually very neutral, and I think can be used in any setting, for any season. They’d be beautiful for spring and Easter decorating as well.

I’ve styled them on our garlands and wreaths in each space in our home this Christmas – they add the most chic and timeless layer to each room.

Here, I love the simple, elegant touch they add to the back of our chairs as well.

A GORGEOUS, LUSH FLORAL ARRANGEMENT

Nothing makes a visual statement like a stunning, oversized arrangement – in any season. A key element that I always use to tell a story.

I’ve had this gorgeous pedestal bowl for several years and you’ll always see it used in our home, housing a huge display of florals or greenery. Simple and elegant hurricane lanterns always add the perfect glow to any room.

I’ve arranged several faux hydrangea and rose bushes that I’ve had for years to create this most gorgeous statement piece in our Christmas dining room. You can get the same look with these white floral bunches, white roses, greenery picks, red berry picks and blue berry picks.

Each table setting is styled with a gold charger, white scalloped dishes, red Christmas salad plates, plaid napkins and silver napkin rings. Many of these are some of my favorite pieces I use on repeat – you would have seen them in our Christmas dining room from last year as well.

I’ve used red in our Christmas home for the last few years and I just love the classic nostalgia it brings to our home for the season. I love how it carries your eye from room to room as well – from ribbons, to throws, to berries and napkins, it’s all part of telling that same Christmas story.

This year, it’s about classic Christmas – feelings of warmth, comfort, gathering, home. Friends, family, Christmas cookies and treats, delicious food, glowing candles and a warm cozy fire. Christmas music is always playing, twinkle lights are always sparkling…it just feels so good, so comforting and so happy. Exactly what Christmas should be.

Thank you very much for reading with me today – and all through this season, with each space that’s been shared here – I hope you’re inspired today in our dining room and every day as welll throughout our Christmas home! xo
