A CHIC HOME OFFICE REFRESH!
It’s been a long time since I’ve shared my home office – a few years ago, I turned our son’s old bedroom into my own workspace and I have loved every minute I spend in here every since. It’s truly such a joy to work in a space that you love. It’s a very personal space for me as well, with layers of many things that are special to me and near to my heart. Of course, it’s a blue and white space, which makes it even more special to me. Since I featured this makeover, I’ve layered in some color with some of my mother’s gorgeous paintings and a few touches of pattern as well. Two of the most recent updates have made a huge difference and I can’t wait to show them to you. I found a gorgeous new rug from Wayfair Canada – its traditional feel adds the perfect layer I was looking for. I also added these chandelier shades to my existing pendant light – this is such a great way to elevate a light fixture! CHIC HOME OFFICE REFRESH – MY NEW RUG!
Welcome to my home office – this space is probably my favorite room in our home. As I mentioned above, I revealed this room a few years ago – my parents had recently passed away and this room was very much a tribute to my beautiful mama – who inspired me throughout my life and still does every day!
Since my first home office reveal, which was all blue and white, I decided to add some of my mother’s beautiful paintings in here – she was an incredibly talented artist and these are some of my favorite pieces of hers. I love the color and depth they add to the room and of course they’re happy reminders.
The updates you’ll see in here were so simple and very inexpensive. I love that you can change a space with only a few touches and the impact can be significant – a new rug, chandelier shades, touches of pattern, and art, all add color and more character.

I wanted to find a new rug that adds a little more warmth to this space. My previous rug was grey which gave the room a cooler feel. This beautiful new rug is perfect for my home office refresh and the colors are just what I wanted.

My gorgeous pagoda mirror is original from my first home office reveal, and is still my very favorite mirror. It’s a statement piece!
I also dressed up my lamps with chic, block print shades – these beauties are very similar – again, an easy update with big impact.
The medallion pattern in my rug has a vintage, traditional feel which I love so much and it’s also machine washable – which is even better!
Another detail on this rug that makes it a little more special is the fringe edging – it lends to that vintage, traditional look I love so much.
The beige, cream and blue tones are gorgeous and not only fit with my office but our entire home as well. Layers of different blue hues, whites, creams, ivories, beiges, browns, grays and golds are the foundation of our home’s entire color palette.
This is a small room! It used to be our son’s bedroom and measures about 10 x 11 feet. Plus, the built-in shelves and window bench take away even more footage. This rug, which is 6’6″ x 9’6″ fits my office perfectly.

CHANDELIER SHADES MAKE CHIC STATEMENT!
Another easy update you’ll find in my home office refresh, is such a simple trick that I’ve used throughout our home for years.
I added these chic chandelier shades to my existing pendant light, creating instant chic! I always love to do this, it transforms any room, elevating the fixture and the space itself. It also adds a layer of personality and character.

Transform your light fixtures – pendants or chandeliers – with chandelier shades if the fixture allows for it. It completely changes the look and instantly creates a chic, elevated piece. It’s an inexpensive way to update any space.
Below you can see my home office before, with no shades on the light fixture and my previous rug. The new updates I made in here are just perfect, adding that warmth and character I was after.
I swapped out my blue stools in front of my desk as well, which adds another layer of warmth. These stools are very similar to these ones pictured above, which I’ve had for many years.
