CHIC AND COZY DINING ROOM
Our dining room is a small space with a very intimate feeling. I love it in here. Although it often acts as a drop zone while I’m decorating each season, once everything is in its place and it’s clean and tidy, it’s one of my favorite rooms to enjoy. We entertain in here and everyone loves to linger in this space. On a regular day, I don’t use it very often, but it’s truly such a beautiful spot to sit and relax if I ever have a moment to myself. I love to sit on our settee and look outside and take in the views. If I have time to read, I’ll grab a cup of tea here as well. Years ago, I used to work in this space sometimes, before I had my own office – it’s truly an inspiring space! I decided to freshen up our dining room this past week, and bring in some cozy layers before I start prepping for spring, which will be in the next week or so. Soon I’ll be sharing my spring inspiration with you so you can start to think ahead as well. It always gets me so excited to look ahead to longer, brighter, warmer days! In the meantime, I’m excited to share the simple changes we made in here to create a chic and cozy dining room. Grab a cup of tea and join me!

COZY DINING ROOM LAYERS

You’ll notice right away the beautiful, bold blue drapes we added to our dining room. I’ll admit, I was a little nervous before installing them – I wasn’t sure I wanted such a dramatic change, since I’m typically creating lighter, brighter spaces in our home.

Once these chic beauties were in place, I was so pleased with the result. The deep, saturated blue adds richness and makes a striking statement in the space.
They feature the same trim detailing as our previous drapes, and I love how the trim’s design ties in perfectly with our rug.

Repeating these subtle details throughout the room helps everything feel curated and cohesive, giving the space a timeless, collected look.
They also beautifully complement the faux grasscloth wallpaper in our entryway, creating a chic, cohesive look as the blue carries into this space.

You can visit my post featuring all of our home’s window treatments to see our dining room drapes before (we had two different colors!), and explore many of the other drapes and window coverings throughout our home.

To add another layer of blue, I moved our newest ginger jars from the kitchen into the dining room, and they look absolutely beautiful with the drapes.
Two of my favorite pillows continue with the blue as well and add beautiful contrast on our settee.

Looking outside toward the front of our yard, these blue drapes frame our view and draw your eye outward to the serene trees and gorgeous setting we’re so fortunate to live in.

A CHIC SPOT FOR READING

On our dining table, I layered some cozy lighting elements to create a warm, luxe look and an inviting spot to read.
DECORATING TIP!
Why not create a cozy reading nook in your dining room with warm lighting and candles? It’s the perfect place to get away from the everyday spaces we spend most of our time in. Steal a few minutes in your day, grab a cup of tea, your favorite book, light a candle and relax!
It’s not something I often do in this space, but when I ever do have a moment to myself, it’s one of my favorite places to sit and relax.

One of my most favorite new items that I got for Christmas is this chic design book – The Art of Gracie. It’s full of the most beautifully inspiring spaces swathed in their stunning hand painted chinoiserie wallpapers. SO chic.

A full, lush floral arrangement all in white with faux hydrangeas and peonies is the perfect paring for all of the saturated blues.

I truly am loving the blue and all of the coordinating layers in our cozy dining room. A very simple change can create a gorgeous, fresh new look. Now I have to decide if they’ll stay up for spring – they just might!

Thank you for reading with me today, I hope you’re inspired to create a chic and cozy feeling in your dining room too. xo

No worries at all! Yes you can! I answered your first question, I understood what you meant! xo
Thank you SO much!! I truly am so flattered and thrilled that you love our space! I’m so happy you love the gallery wall too – I wrote about it years ago when we first installed it, it’s one of my favorite places to display our family photos. I used to have a mix of art on this wall but eventually swapped it for family pics, you can be as creative as you want, even mix art and people! Take a look at the before in this post, hopefully it will also inspire you! xo
Hi! Thank you so much for the complement – and I love that you love blue too! You can definitely use them year round! I certainly do and I mix them with all kinds of different seasonal florals. You can get so many different options and colors now as well, so go for it! Thank you for the question and for reading with me! xo
Oops. My keyboarding isn’t the best! I meant— can I incorporate peonies and hydrangeas year round? Thanks
I love your blues! I’ve decorated with blues even when it wasn’t a trend, and I’m glad you’re in that camp, too! Pairings hydrangeas and peonies is a great idea—I love both flowers, so I’m copying your idea! Are those flowers spring or summer only? Or can. Somehow incorporate them year round? Thanks.
You’re intimate dining room is lovely 💙 I adore blue and your home has it everywhere!
Not what this post intended, but I found inspiration from your art display on the wall! I’ve been struggling to find the best frames to display (3) prints from our Italy trip turned into canvas art and I noticed you have an eclectic mix of frames. It’s unexpected in this room, love that!
