A FLORIDA HOME WHERE COMFORT MEETS GLAM

entry-florida-home-black-and-white-rugI am so excited! I’ve been working on this post for a while now and saving it for the perfect time to share with you. It’s mid January, and here, where the winter season can last until April sometimes, I figured it’s the perfect time of the year to share a southern dream home. If you’re living in warmer temps, well, you can still dream, because this home is just that! Have you ever entered someone’s home that felt as though you’re walking into a magazine, or a designer showcase home? In case you haven’t, today is the day. Welcome to my brother and sister-in-law’s house, a Florida home where comfort meets glam – in a seriously stylish way. entry-florida-home-garden-stools-white-chandelierA collection of blue and white ginger jars, classic coral and chinoiserie touches all pop off of the elegant black console in the entranceway. A pair of garden stools with an elegant blue and white pattern balance it off, while a gorgeous white and black chandelier hangs overhead. A pair of mirrors side by side, reinforces the symmetry in this space. forida-home-entryway-black-cosole-blue-and-whiteFrom the entryway, the sightline carries your eye straight through to the back of the house. Soaring ceilings, an airy open concept, natural wood-toned floors and creamy whites paired with vibrant hues…it’s eye candy all around in their chic and welcoming home.
As you walk through, your eye continues to go right up to the fabulous gold and crystal chandelier hanging in front of the double height, steel frame arched windows. The natural light in this space is spectacular!living-room-blue-white-yellow-gold-modern3The view from above. My sister-in-law does not shy away from pattern and mixing them together. There’s so much to love in here, from the gold wall detailing, right down to those punchy yellow stools. I love the layers of blue on blue, and all of the varying pattern that is mixed together. The blue and white graphic rug anchors everything in the room.

Soft textures and comfortable furniture mixed into the elegant and sophisticated decor, allow the grandeur of the home to become comfortable and welcoming, where guests can relax, put their feet up, and stay a while. Nothing is overwhelming or intimidating…just a beautiful, bright, family home that invites you to come right in.

I love the mirrored buffet and how the reflection of the rug continues on…mirrored-console-blue-lamp-foo-dogsThe marble and brass coffee table is perfectly on-trend as well.marble-cofee-table-gold-accents-blue-rug2marble-cofee-table-gold-accents-blue-rugIn the facing dining room, the dramatic detailing of the black ceiling anchors the space and is punctuated by the chandelier. Elegant and understated details keep the space feeling light and airy, juxtaposed with dramatic flair. This space is my favorite :)dining-room-black-ceiling-chandelier5How about that oversized mirror? dining-room-black-ceiling-chandelier4You may recognize these paintings, however, if you’re new to my blog, you may not know that my mother painted our dining room painting as an engagement gift (see it HERE), which she’s done for all of us in our family. My brother lucked out and got two! They provide rich layers of color on this wall and help to frame the space.dining-room-black-ceiling-chandelier3I love how the chandelier echoes the layers of the women’s robes in the paintings.dining-room-black-ceiling-chandelierdining-room-black-ceiling-chandelier2Further down the hallway, to the back of the home, we enter the family room, which is adjacent to the kitchen. I’ll be sharing the kitchen in another blog post, so stay tuned for that! Don’t you just love the layers in here as well? So many details for your eye to soak in.family-room-blue-walls-gold-accents-chandelierYou may recognize some of this artwork as well – these are from my own collection of fashion illustrations – see more of these HERE.family-room-grey-sofa-chandelier-blue-wallsThe blue and green hydrangeas bring the perfect amount of color to the tables.family-room-hydrangeas-blue-and-greemThis elegant buffet works perfectly with the bold pattern of the wallpaper (Kaleidoscope by York Wallcoverings). I love it’s antique quality paired with the contemporary edge of the paper.antiqued-buffet-blue-and-white-ginger-jarfamily-room-gold-vase-blue-and-white-ginger-jarOutside, in the back of the home, is the loggia with a classic metal conversation set, adorned with all of the colors we see throughout the house. outdoor-patio-bright-colors-frontgate-furnitureThe perfect spot for morning coffee with views through to the front entryway.
outdoor-patio-bright-colors-frontgate-furniture2That wraps up my tour of my brother and sister-in-law’s home. I hope you enjoyed this tour as much as I enjoyed their home when we visited. So much gorgeous inspiration all around! Sources for furniture, lighting and accessories are below.
