gold-charger-silver-china-figI love silver and gold, and anything metallic for that matter. I especially love to mix metals. Keeping everything monochromatic is also beautiful, and I love to use that as a scheme as well, however pulling two contrasting tones together, brings a rich and unexpected palette to your table. For the holiday season, I especially love to use a combination of metals and a Fall tablescape is no exception! Here, I’ve combined gold, silver and a bronze-gold for a layered and elegant place setting that your guests are sure to love.

I’ve used printed napkins, which also combine warm and cool tones in the pattern. This helps to tie the metallics together as well, as do many of the elements on the table and around the room. There is something so regal about using metallics on your table! Here, I’ve topped if off with a fresh fig, which leads me to tip number two…gold-charger-silver-china-fig2GET THE LOOK :

fall-tip-2fall-centerpiece-fruit2No time to buy fresh flowers or make an arrangement? Open your refrigerator and use what you already have. I’m particularly loving figs this season for their deep color and beautiful and simple shape. I was thrilled to stumble upon these at the grocery store. They make the cutest adornment for you place settings too – even a bunch of grapes or a single pear would be perfect.

This arrangement was so simple and quick to create. I decided to add some hazelnuts for an earthy element of the season as well. Simply layer and build up the fruit on a cake stand and then add the nuts to fill in the gaps. Ten minutes, it’s that easy. You can see another Fall centrepiece I created for my Fall home tour, here, using fresh flowers, and the same fruit as I’m using in this simple arrangement.

What I love about using fruit, is it’s easy and quick, you probably have it on hand, and if not, a quick trip to the grocery store, and you’ll find anything you need to complement your tablescape. I wanted deep, rich hues as the focal point on my table and I love that the grapes and figs are almost identical in color. The pops of red from the pears give it some nice dramatic punch as well.fall-centerpiece-fruitGET THE LOOK :

I’ve had the same pillows for quite some time in this space, all with a global sensibility, which I love. For this Fall season, I wanted rich, deep tones and luxe fabrics to bring in that layer of warmth and coziness. At the same time, I wanted to keep an elegant look in our space. I opted for velvet, embroidery and crewel work. Layer these together with a textured throw, and it’s instantly cozy. These pillows are all down filled as well, which makes them even more comfortable to sink in to.

They have a beautiful edge and are so soft and luxurious. I also found four, dark grey velvet pillows to complement the blue pillows, with this amazing regency inspired embroidery. I think I actually jumped up and down in the store when I saw them! They’re the perfect color for our grey sofas,, and because I have many touches of chinoiserie throughout our home, they were meant to be with their fabulous embroidery. I love that the crewel pillows in the center echo the pattern of our ottoman as well.living-room-blue-velvet-pillows-grey-sofa3 living-room-fall-decor7That rounds up my three simple tips for Fall decorating, I hope you found something inspiring here today!
