WINTER DECORATING WITH A CLEAN, CRISP LOOK

|

Every year I get stressed thinking about the amount of work it is to take down and pack away Christmas decorations, and every year I bang through it in about a full day, or day and a half. It’s as though I’m running a marathon and I won’t stop because I just want my house back! Do you ever feel that way?! There’s just something about that crisp, clean feeling you get when it’s all put away. Couple that with bright white snow everywhere, and our home feels so refreshing, airy and light. Despite the fact that our winters are extremely long and cold here, the quality of the light during the day is gorgeous. Today I’ll be sharing a few quick photos of the winter decorating I pulled together last week. I’m keeping it light, simple and paired back for the rest of the season, using everything I already own. *Affiliate links are provided in this post for your shopping convenience – while I make a small commission on these items, it’s no extra cost to you!Winter decorating can be fresh and clean but still cozy and warm! Lighten things up after the holidays with a crisp, clean look!As many of you know, I rotate most of my accessories throughout our home, often on a regular basis. My blue and white collection is still a dominant theme in the house (it’s not going anywhere yet!) and I’ve mixed in a few other brass pieces, as well as some whites and creams.Winter decorating can be fresh and clean but still cozy and warm! Lighten things up after the holidays with a crisp, clean look!If you saw my post last week on our favorite posts of 2017 (see it here), then you must remember the post where I styled our console table four different ways from last year (see all the looks here). I still love all four of those looks! This year I kept the look on our console table simple and clean. I finally have a pair of blue and white garden stools, as you may have noticed in my recent posts. For those of you who are new readers, I have been on the hunt forever, and finally settled on these beauties :)Winter decorating can be fresh and clean but still cozy and warm! Lighten things up after the holidays with a crisp, clean look!I also mentioned recently in my Christmas home tour of our entryway (read it here), that I’m thinking of painting both the table and the mirror. I’m envisioning a cream, or light grey table, and a gold mirror. Painting them is totally doable, but I’m not sure if I should paint, or just switch them out. What do you think? You should know me by know that my wheels are constantly turning haha…don’t yours?! I love switching things up and we’ve had this mirror here for almost eight years and the table, for maybe about five. I also wouldn’t mind a new carpet here too…It never ends, and yes, I drive my husband crazy.Winter decorating can be fresh and clean but still cozy and warm! Lighten things up after the holidays with a crisp, clean look!I still do love our foyer, regardless of whether or not I want to change everything, ha! It doesn’t mean it will all happen right away either, I’m just always dreaming up new scenarios ;)Winter decorating can be fresh and clean but still cozy and warm! I am really loving the simple and elegant grouping here. Sometimes a large scale ginger jar and pair of brass hurricanes is all you need to make a statement under a mirror.

I know they’re pussywillows, which you only see in Spring, but this is all I have in my arsenal of faux foliage – I actually have no plain branches! Plus, pussywillows are some of my favorite things, so I’ll let this one slide.Winter decorating can be fresh and clean but still cozy and warm! The neutral palette in this room just feels right to me and I love the paired back look.

Don’t get me wrong – I love creating a different vibe in here each season, and I always love the challenge of what a new season brings. For some reason though, when it comes to January, I love to shed all the layers and keep things simple.Winter decorating can be fresh and clean but still cozy and warm! This look can certainly carry into Spring and Summer, and I may have a tough time parting ways with this combination! You’ve seen all of these pillows used throughout our home since last year, but this is the first time I’ve had them all in here together. I really love how they play off of our rug as well.

Thank you so much Pat! That ginger jar was a lucky HomeSense find on major discount because it was broken. It’s so hard to find similar ones because of the size! I’ll do my best to try and source some! sos

  2. Love the foyer table. Might you tell me where you found the huge ginger jar in blue and white. I clicked the link to Wayfair and the jar according to reviews is blue and mint. Thank you.
