WEEKEND FAVORITES: TURKISH INSPIRED VINTAGE RUGS

I’m posting a day earlier than usual with my Weekend Favorites this week, but Thursday is just one day ahead of Friday, which is practically the weekend anyway, right? So why not celebrate the weekend with a fabulous rug roundup. Plus, my plans to share our kitchen updates with our new lighting and barstools didn’t quite work out as I had intended this week. What started out as a quick purchase of a rug for our kitchen, has now turned into a small quest. I’ve found the one I want, but I’m still waiting for it to arrive, which will only be tomorrow. In which case, I can only shoot our newly updated kitchen this weekend. I ordered a gorgeous little runner which I shared on Instagram this week, and once it arrived, I was a little unsure of the size. So, I opted for a larger format of the same design – I’m crossing my fingers I like it and that it works in our space. If it doesn’t, well, it’s back to the drawing board for me. I’ve decided since I’ve been searching and finding so many beautiful Turkish inspired vintage rugs, I had to share some of my findings with you too.

Before I get to the rug roundup, take a look below at our kitchen with the runner (find it here), and then a photoshop mockup with the larger size, which I have a feeling may be the better option in the end. I also shared some mockups of our kitchen a few weeks ago, featuring our lighting options in this space, and a peek of our new barstools as well. If you haven’t had a chance to read about them, you can click here to get an idea of what they look like in here. If you’re new to my blog, you may not have seen our new brass hardware updates from this past summer – click here to read it. Since then, I’ve been slowly bringing in more brass and changing the look with new lighting, new stools, and now our new rug.

As soon as I saw the runner, I was pleasantly surprised – I was on the fence about the bright tones of turquoise and fuchsia, but they feel somewhat minimal compared to the overall blue tone of the rug. My only deterrent with this choice is the size. Without measuring, I just assumed (not a wise thing to do!), that 2’2″ x 6′ would suffice. I’m not saying it doesn’t, but I’m not fully convinced just yet.

I jumped back onto the Wayfair site to see what other sizes were available and found this 4’x5’7″ option (see it here and also below), that I feel may fit better from a scale and proportion perspective. I know it’s just a mockup, and  by no means perfect, but it gives a really good idea of how this one will feel in our kitchen. Crossing my fingers there’s not too much turquoise in it. I really hope one of them is the right choice, or I’ll be sharing our kitchen updates sans new rug! Tell me in the comments which one you think will look better, I’m so curious to know!

Now, let’s have a look at my Turkish inspired vintage rug roundup, which includes the larger format of my two rug options.  What I love about these vintage style rugs, and infusing this look into my home, is that they bring a sense of history and a collected feel, to any space. Many of you know I love a collected look in our home, and with the thousands of options that are available out there, you are sure to find something that suits your style and wallet. You can click on the numbers underneath the image below to shop them, and don’t forget you can also scroll to the bottom and click on the thumbnails also. Hi! I think the one you’re asking about is not available anymore unfortunately – my apologies! Older shopping links often aren’t available after a few years. Let me know if I can help in any other way! Thanks!

Thank you, Karen! Of course, I love to hear what everyone thinks! I got the same reaction when I posted it on Instagram, most people like the larger one! Crossing my fingers it looks as good when it gets here! Thanks for reading and letting me know what you think!

  4. I too, think the larger size is better, very much so, if you were looking for another opinion :-)

Thank you so much Dana! I’m so happy you like it – it really is gorgeous and you cannot beat the price! I hope it looks good when to arrives, I am so eager to get our kitchen finished so I can share it with you!

  6. Oh, I am in love with that rug! I think the larger one is much better. I went for a medium size between my sink area and island and now I think I want a larger one. It looks so much more finished with the larger one and the one you chose would look wonderful in my kitchen. I want it!
