A VALENTINE’S DAY TABLESCAPE FOR FOUR
February is already next week and we’re back for another edition of the Styled + Set Holiday Entertaining blog hop, hosted by my very talented friend, Lory from Designthusiasm. This time we’re featuring Valentine’s Day tables and there are so many gorgeous tables to feast your eyes on! If you’re coming over from Lory’s romantic table, welcome to CitrineLiving! Typically we think of Valentine’s dinners as a romantic setting for two, however today, I’m sharing a Valentine’s Day tablescape for four with you. Why not have a brunch all together with the kids? Or a casual, less intimate meal with friends instead is always fun.
I chose to keep my table light and airy for the occasion using a few touches of lavender to commemorate the holiday, mixed together with some unexpected touches.I found these black and white greek key salad plates as well as this black dinnerware and I immediately fell in love. Both are rimmed in gold which adds the perfect touch of glam.I’ve been searching for a few years now for gold flatware and I actually found this gorgeous set the same day I found the dishes. There’s nothing like finding so many goodies at once!I wanted the florals to be fresh and light, juxtaposed against the graphic black and white, to keep the table from feeling too serious. I laid a lavender scarf underneath everything as the base for my table and from there, layered more table runners, crosswise, in cream and silver. Silver beaded chargers and silver napkins help tie the silver together with all of the other elements.
I am really not the greatest when it comes to floral arrangements and I’m still learning as I go. I’ve definitely learned to appreciate it as an artform and I wish I had a natural knack for it. I’ll definitely have to keep practicing.
I always love hydrangeas and they mix so beautifully with the lavender alstroemerias and tulips. Lavender is such a beautiful color and doesn’t get as much attention as it deserves. It goes with everything and is actually quite neutral – all colors go with it beautifully. I fell especially hard for it when I paired it here with the gold. Then again, I like everything with gold :)I used many of my go-to items to create this look – crystal candleholders, glass hurricanes filled with glass beads (these are actually acrylic), gold candleholders and gold chargers. The tulips in the corner add to the Spring-like vibe in the room and already have me thinking of warmer weather.Another little peek at these greek key plates. Such a great find!
