CHIC, ELEGANT FALL DECOR IN OUR LIVING ROOM

Welcome to our fall living room! As usual, in the last few years, I’ve kept my seasonal decorating simple, pared-back, chic and elegant. This year, I’ve added just a few key touches that speak to the fall season.

You’ll find gorgeous, lush, burgundy floral arrangements, chic pillow covers in deep blue and ivory tones, gold touches and natural accents.

If you haven’t noticed yet, our bookshelves finally got the makeover I’ve been talking about for a few months now – and it turned out so stunning! More on that a little further down.

This fall, I used a mix of high and low for our pillow covers, a fantastic way to save a lot if you’re looking to splurge a little.

Some of my go-to, favorite gold accents and natural elements of agate and crystal add a layer of interest and beautiful texture.

There was a time when I would change so much of my decor each season, but now, I focus on just a few key elements, and with those small changes, suddenly that newness is conveyed throughout our home.

I chose these gorgeous, deep burgundy faux florals for my elegant fall decor theme, and wow, they are truly so beautiful! What a gorgeous pairing with all of the blues throughout our home.

I created this oversized, lush arrangement (always a favorite thing of mine to do) with fourteen of these burgundy hydrangea stems and six of these burgundy berry stems.

They’re absolutely beautiful – the colors are so rich and luxe, and I love that I can carry these through into my holiday decorating, which I’ll most likely do.

I just love the drama of this arrangement and how it draws your eye right in. I’ve used the same colors throughout our home this fall, in our entryway and kitchen as well. The deep hues are so gorgeous.

For our fall pillows, I went with a high-low mix, all in blues and ivory. A chic contrast in pattern and texture with velvet, fringe, stripes and block print, adds depth and variation as well.

These pillows accent our drapery beautifully as well – always think of your space as a whole and how one pattern might play off of another, for continuity throughout.

I’m loving the neutral and blue combination of these pillows and how it echos so much of what you see around our home with our ginger jars, block prints and navy florals in our dining room (stay tuned for that space next) and the navy ticking stripe fabric on our ottoman.

Adding this faux grasscloth peel and stick wallpaper to our bookshelves has been on my to-do list for a while now, but of course, procrastination kept me from taking the plunge! That, and the fact that I was a little concerned about the color being a bit too dark.

I finally decided to just go for it, since, in the worst case scenario, I could peel it right off if we didn’t like it.

As it turns out, I was so wrong – which is extremely unusual when it comes to design decisions around here, ha! We’re beyond thrilled with the results. The best part is, it cost less than a hundred dollars and elevates our shelves to another level. Don’t you think?

It was a little tricky in some spots to install, especially the bottom shelves and also working around the wooden brackets under the shelves that you can’t see.

You have to smooth out the air bubbles, which was also a challenge in some areas. Overall, though, it was fairly simple to do and within 24 hours, our bookshelves had a whole new look.

It adds so much warmth and dimension to our living room and the decor pops off that stunning blue background. The texture of the grasscloth is beautiful here and echoes our entryway and kids bath as well.

How gorgeous are my burgundy florals on these shelves? All of our gold pieces jump right off that blue and my beautiful whites and creams are a natural compliment.

We’re so thrilled with how this little DIY project turned out and love the addition to our living room as a whole, and our elegant fall decor as well.

As much as summer is my favorite time of year, fall comes pretty close – just the idea of getting cozy, all of the changing colors, the cooler temperatures, all the delicious cooking and baking. It’s that nesting feeling that I love so much.
