CHANGING OUR BEDDING FOR FALL

| |

CHANGING THE BEDDING FOR FALLIf you remember, our master bedroom underwent a makeover last Spring. When I first took you on a tour of our bedroom last January, we had warm, cozy enveloping layers of grey on grey, with gold accents. In the Spring, I set out on a mission to brighten and lighten our room, and create a breezy, vacation inspired master retreat. It seems as though we’ve changed so many things in this space, but we’ve only changed the wall color, bedding and lighting. All of the large scale pieces have stayed as is and we’ve moved the bed from one wall to the other. Now that September is here, I’m yearning for a change with the new season again. I brought out our grey bedding from the linen closet and I’m in love with the new feeling in here. It’s amazing, that by simply changing the bedding for fall and winter, we’ve created another ‘mini makeover’ and our room feels completely different once again.CHANGING THE BEDDING FOR FALLAbove is our bedroom with the beautiful dark walls, Washboard by Ralph Lauren. The walls were a rich, deep hue and we LOVED them. Our relaxing retreat was a perfect escape at the end of the day. The problem with the dark color, was that it was too dark for the amount of natural light we get through our north facing windows. We needed to find a way to maximize on that light that we have, and create an entirely new feeling in our room.CHANGING THE BEDDING FOR FALLSee more of this room design with details and sources here.CHANGING THE BEDDING FOR FALLHere is our made over space, with light airy walls, bright blues and crisp whites. The bedding was the jumping off point for the whole look of the room. You know about my love for blue and white – so I’m sure you can imagine my reaction when I found this! As excited as a kid in a candy store is an understatement!CHANGING THE BEDDING FOR FALLYou can see the entire makeover of this room with details and sources here.CHANGING THE BEDDING FOR FALLI absolutely love how the warm grey tones of the bedding compliment the icy cool walls. The gold accents and new chandelier still work amazingly together as well – although, I think gold and brass go with anything, anytime, anywhere! I have a lot of it throughout our home, and in my recent Fall home tour, you can see how I’ve incorporated this warm metal into my scheme for the season here.CHANGING THE BEDDING FOR FALLI grabbed the pillows from our living room sofas, since they were going to be put in storage for now anyway. I think I like them better in here :) Looks like they’ll be in the fall lineup in this space from now on!CHANGING THE BEDDING FOR FALLLayering in a warm, textured throw is perfect for the colder seasons. I wanted some subtle color, so I used this blue and white striped one. Even if you don’t use it to keep warm, it’s a great way to layer in the look for Fall. Through all of the transitions we’ve had in here, I really love this one, with the use of warm and cool tones together. I knew when I chose the wall color, I wanted something that would work with both sets of bedding – a little grey, a little blue, light and airy. This is the perfect shade for us year round. However, if you’re looking to make a change, and you don’t want to go through the hassle of painting, or the cost, it’s worth every penny to make a small investment in another set of bedding to give yourself a new look. It’s so fun to have something fresh to look forward to with the changing seasons and you’ll make a big impact with very little spending.

Tell me what you think! Which look in our room is your favorite? It’s crazy to think we’ve had three completely different looks in so little time. The best part is, I can chose from either of the last two looks on a whim. That could very likely happen before Spring rolls around next year!

I also wanted to share another gorgeous master bedroom with you, which belongs to my friend Kelley of kelleynan.com – she is the master at creating new looks in her neutral bedroom. Kelley changes out her accent pillows and accessories often to refresh her room. Not everyone wants color or pattern on their bed like I do, and this is another great way to change your look whenever you’re in the mood. She even has a blog post dedicated to it, which you can read here.
