SPRING LIVING ROOM DECORATING: BLUE, WHITE, BRASS + NEW BRASS LIGHTING!

| |

I am so excited that we’re finally in March! The days are getting longer, we’ll soon be moving the clocks ahead, which gives me the most delightful feeling that Spring is right around the corner. I love spring, and while we actually get very little of this beautiful season living here, just the promise of warmer winds and melting snow gives me hope! Today I’m sharing our spring living room decorating and our brand new brass lighting! Our living room has undergone quite the transformation over the past year and half. It started with our new rug (see it here from fall 2017), then our new sofas, and now our gorgeous new lights. Add new pillows into the mix and spruced up accessories and shelf styling, and we’re celebrating spring in style in our home. I can’t wait for you to see it all, so grab your coffee, this is a long post! Stay tuned for a closer look at my living room ottoman and styling tips coming to the blog next week, a closer look at my bookshelves and styling, and my spring decorated dining room, kitchen and entryway. Lots of Spring coming your way! Happy March, my friends, enjoy the tour today and enjoy your weekend!

OUR SPRING LIVING ROOM IN BLUE, WHITE + GLORIOUS BRASS!

I can honestly say that our new white sofas have completely changed this space on so many levels. They are chic and sophisticated, but warm and inviting at the same time. This room gets used around the clock! We lounge in here daily and not only do we live in here, this room truly lives with us. I had a vision for this space (see the reveal here) and now that it’s more complete with my blue white and brass spring theme and new lighting, I am beyond thrilled. Beautiful and bright spring living room decorating in blue, white and brass plus our new gorgeous brass chandeiers and wall sconces! If you saw my master bedroom styling tips a few weeks ago (click here to read it), then you’ll remember my blue hydrangeas too. I also gave you a little peek of what’s to come in last week’s spring styling tips post (see it here), where I shared some bits and pieces of what you’ll be seeing throughout our home this season.Beautiful and bright spring living room decorating in blue, white and brass plus our new gorgeous brass chandeiers and wall sconces!

I love the beautiful, punchy blue of these faux hydraneags that draws your eye into the room, and then right up to our bookshelves, where I combined some of my favorite blue and white pieces, styled with brass and natural elements, like driftwood, agate and coral. I always love a warm and cool mix.Beautiful and bright spring living room decorating in blue, white and brass plus our new gorgeous brass chandeiers and wall sconces!Beautiful and bright spring living room decorating in blue, white and brass plus our new gorgeous brass chandeiers and wall sconces!Beautiful and bright spring living room decorating in blue, white and brass plus our new gorgeous brass chandeiers and wall sconces!

I am seriously so in love with how our new brass chandeliers and wall sconces have brightened up this space, and combined with my blue and white palette, it feels bright, fresh and so crisp – perfect for welcoming spring. Give me all the blue, white and brass you want, because it is pure heaven to me! These fixtures compliment this entire space, and our facing rooms perfectly, and I love how chic they are together with our sofas. Beautiful and bright spring living room decorating in blue, white and brass plus our new gorgeous brass chandeiers and wall sconces!I’ve added some light blue touches with some pillows I already had, and some new beauties I just purchased for the season. The blue ones on the sofas are years old – you can find some similar ones down below that I’ve inked for you, along with all of my living room pillows. You can find my gorgeous new ones here.Beautiful and bright spring living room decorating in blue, white and brass plus our new gorgeous brass chandeiers and wall sconces!Beautiful and bright spring living room decorating in blue, white and brass plus our new gorgeous brass chandeiers and wall sconces!

Here’s a look at our full bookshelves, which are balanced with some of the same pieces on both sides – don’t forget to stay tuned for a closer look at these very soon, with styling tips and more details.Beautiful and bright spring living room decorating in blue, white and brass plus our new gorgeous brass chandeiers and wall sconces! That touch of brass bling at the top of our shelves brightens them up so much – they’re exactly what I had envisioned in here. The finish of both the sconces and the chandeliers is Aged Brass, the sconces are a polished finish and the chandeliers are more of a brushed or satin finish. I have them linked for you further down as well.Beautiful and bright spring living room decorating in blue, white and brass plus our new gorgeous brass chandeiers and wall sconces! Beautiful and bright spring living room decorating in blue, white and brass plus our new gorgeous brass chandeiers and wall sconces! This space feels so different from the way it used to with all of the new elements in place, and it feels so good seeing it change with the seasons too – I can’t wait to see how it feels in the summer with the doors and windows open and all the greenery outside!

I especially love the flow between the spaces in our home since we’ve updated our dining room (read about the makeover here) and entryway (see the full makeover here) – our home has undergone some big changes in the past year! I’m so happy I picked up more blue hydrangeas to tie the living room into the entryway, and added some of my blue and white pieces back into the dining room to help keep a cohesive look in our open concept home. Can’t wait to share a closer look of both of these spaces with you soon too!Beautiful and bright spring living room decorating in blue, white and brass plus our new gorgeous brass chandeiers and wall sconces!I don’t make huge changes to the way I style our ottoman each season, the look is pretty consistent throughout the year. I do swap out books and accessories, and I’ll switch from faux florals to real arrangements also. More ottoman details will be coming to the blog soon!Beautiful and bright spring living room decorating in blue, white and brass plus our new gorgeous brass chandeiers and wall sconces! I’m crushing on the view from the other side of our room just as much, and I love the double brass chandeliers against our double french doors and how they accentuate the height of our ceilings, which are 11 feet in this room. Beautiful and bright spring living room decorating in blue, white and brass plus our new gorgeous brass chandeiers and wall sconces! Beautiful and bright spring living room decorating in blue, white and brass plus our new gorgeous brass chandeiers and wall sconces!I get asked often how we keep the sofas from getting dirty – I bought fabric guard spray that I am still waiting for warmer temps to be able to spray the cushions outside, but in the meantime (and we’ll continue to do so after I spray), we use throw blankets when we’re lounging to protect the seat and back cushions. No big deal at all.Beautiful and bright spring living room decorating in blue, white and brass plus our new gorgeous brass chandeiers and wall sconces!Beautiful and bright spring living room decorating in blue, white and brass plus our new gorgeous brass chandeiers and wall sconces!

I do admit I am a notorious pillow fluffer and karate chopper (how else do you get a perfectly primped pillow?!), and each night I like to place all the pillows back where they belong and plump and smooth out the seat cushions. One other tip if you have a single seat cushion, flip to over every month to keep it from sagging in the middle. I’ve found it helps to keep the seat looking neat and well maintained.Beautiful and bright spring living room decorating in blue, white and brass plus our new gorgeous brass chandeiers and wall sconces! So yes, when I work so hard each season to bring in newness into our home, I like to keep it neat and orderly so I can enjoy the beauty in real life, not just in pictures! Trust me though, it does get messy, so I find myself primping and prodding around the clock ;)Beautiful and bright spring living room decorating in blue, white and brass plus our new gorgeous brass chandeiers and wall sconces!

Thank you so much for joining me today, I hope my spring living room decorating has left you inspired to get started on yours if you haven’t yet! Of course, our home in recent years always has my touches of blue and white sprinkled throughout – what’s your favorite color? Do you use one in particular or is your home more neutral? Don’t be afraid to build your color palette on what you love and go from there! Experiment in small doses with pillows, books and flowers – simple ways to update your rooms without spending too much. It always feels so good to refresh your home for a new season too. Don’t forget to stay tuned for a lot more spring decorating and styling coming your way! Happy weekend! xo

Thank you very much, Joanna, I am happy you like it all! We live in this room every day! We lounge and hangout – the kids also hang out in the basement, but we are all in here all the time. I cover the sofas with blankets when we’re on them! That said, I don’t have a dog, but this room works hard every day! Thank you so much for saying hi! xo

Mary, thank you very much! I love the brass, it really adds so much in here! They can get dusty! I vacuum mine with the brush attachment which usually does the trick! Try using a blow dryer outside, that might work! Thanks for stopping by! xo

  14. Everything is just gorgeous and I love all the brass touches. On the subject of faux flowers, I use them frequently in various seasonal displays. I keep mine stored in large plastic bins when not in use. But…they get so dusty …I’ve tried vacuuming and shaking them outdoors but nothing I do seems to work. Do you have this problem and if so, do you have a solution? I and my nose thank you.

  15. Your living room is so beautiful! I’d love to have white in mine but being a greatroom house, we practically live in that room. I would be afraid of staining light furniture and carpet, especially with a dog. In the meantime, I will enjoy looking at all the lovely details in your home.

Absolutely gorgeous! I am s blue and white collector and have always loved it combined with brass. Who is the artist of the two paintings on either side of the bookcases?
