MY GO-TO SPRING DECORATING TIPS

I’m sharing my go-to Spring decorating tips that I use every year – in fact, these tips are what I often turn to each season as well… I often use the same styling tricks more or less, anytime I want to bring a fresh new look into our home. It’s all about the accessories for me, and since I basically own a warehouse full of them in my basement, I have an ongoing rotation all year round. Of course, I’ll add a few new items each season as well, but these tips are so easy, you can keep them up your sleeve all year round, and be sure that they’ll help you freshen up your home in no time! STYLING TIP # 1: ADD YOUR FAVORITE COLOR

You may or may not know I am a die-hard fan of classic blue and white. I’ve grown my collection over the years from a few pieces sprinkled around here and there, to large groupings on counters, shelves, tables, you name it. You’ll find it incorporated everywhere throughout our home, from season to season. So naturally, color is a big one for me. Even though I’ve been using this as my main color for quite a while now, it plays a major role each season – especially how I’ll play other colors off it.Above, in our kitchen, I used a monochromatic look to pull this palette together with some of my favorite dishes and ginger jars. This was one of three looks I created for this post on styling shelves 3 different ways. You can see more of that post here.In our entryway (an ever-rotating display!), I added bold hues to create a look that’s lively and vibrant. Colorful design books and faux hydrangeas, along with the blues are a key factor for this look. You can see more of this look along with 3 others, here.For this monochromatic look in our bedroom from last Spring, I used layers of pattern on pattern to create a luxurious retreat. You can see the full tour here.In my most recent tablescape, I paired my blues with some vibrant florals, and and accented with a beautiful complimentary hue, lavender. See it here.This little grouping on our island is a perfect way to bring a touch of Spring to our kitchen. Some favorite dishes and bowls artfully displayed in my covered cake stands are beautiful to look at and functional as well!

STYLING TIP # 2: BRING IN FRESH AND FAUX FLOWERS

Many of you know I love faux flowers and use them all the time. I’m not always able to find affordable fresh blooms where I live, so I have built up quite the collection of gorgeous faux stems for my regular rotation. When I am able to find beautiful fresh blooms locally, or cut them from the garden, you can bet I have them. Nothing brings in the beauty of the warmer months like gorgeous fresh flowers!
These pretties from last Spring (shown above) are making a reappearance in our kitchen this year (pictured below)! They are some of my favorites!Are these beautiful or what? There is just something about fresh hydrangeas and blue and white chinoiserie…classic, elegant, fresh, and so Spring ;) These are cut from our garden, and can’t wait for them to bloom this year!
In our newly refreshed entryway, I added some more faux branches with Spring blossoms for a fresh and airy look. These are also from my no-fail faux arsenal. I love to use them in any type of vessel, but in a clear cylinder vase, they have a graphic quality that I love, and they make a strong statement all on their own. STYLING TIP # 3: USE FRAGRANT LEMONS + LIMES

I love to use lemons and limes not only for cooking, but for decorating in the kitchen. I keep them in the fridge in the fall and winter, but come Spring, you can be sure to find them accented around our kitchen. Their gorgeous hues and fragrant peels just scream warm weather to me, and I always love the home-grown touch they bring to our kitchen.A few gathered in a small glass bowl add the perfect punch by the kitchen sink and window.I love to pair them together to bring some life to a quiet corner.
Create and artful display in a grouping on a tray with some blooms and kitchen essentials! A few sprigs of greenery really liven up a bowl of lemons or limes. How pretty are they against the beautiful blues? You can see more of this tablescape from last Spring here.

STYLING TIP # 4: SWAP OUT YOUR THROW PILLOWS!

This must be one of my favorite ways to bring in any season, and for Spring in our home, it’s blues, florals, stripes and color! This year I’m adding some fun yellow and green to my blues and I can’t wait to share it with you! There’s no doubt I have a plethora of blue pillows in constant rotation around here, and they move from room to room on a regular basis.Above, you can see how I love to add pattern on pattern for visual interest and these beauties in their cool tones are perfect for the warm weather months. I always love to pair a floral with a stripe and these two above from my Spring tour last year (see it here), are the perfect compliment to each other.This combo above is where I started out with my direction this Spring, I’ve swapped out my yellow and grey ikat (top right) for a beautiful verdant green lumbar that will bring a fresh and unexpected twist to our living room this season. STYLING TIP # 5: LAYER IN NATURAL ELEMENTSThis display above, from one of my favorite blog posts is all about using those natural elements that I love so much. Coral and shells are some of my favorites, and creating a grouping makes a strong statement that speaks volumes about the warm, sunny days of Spring.Here’s another grouping from the same post, with a faux orchid and agate bookends. Notice the pattern again and how I’m often repeating it throughout my displays.
