MASTER BEDROOM DECORATING TIPS FOR SPRING

| |

I’m kicking off my spring decorating early this year, because I am sooooo over winter and ready to throw open the windows. Anyone else with me? Even though the spring temps are nowhere in sight around here, and we’re knee-deep in the middle of yet another snow storm and snow day (no school – again!), I couldn’t hold off any longer. In fact, I’ve been sprucing things up for spring for weeks now. Usually I keep my decor minimal after Christmas and keep the house simple for a while. This year, I was ready to bring it on mid-January, when I finally took down my Christmas decor (much later than normal – did you see my Better Homes and Garden Christmas photoshoot?). So, to honor the season on the early-ish side, I’m sharing some simple master bedroom decorating tips.

Updating your bedroom each season really doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. Anyone who knows me well, knows I like expediency, simplicity and of course to do things without spending a lot of money. I also love to swap my bedding every few seasons to refresh our bedroom. That said, I know not everyone else does! I have a little bit of an obsession with changing our bedding and I do change is quite often. This spring however, I kept things very simple, and I decided to use our latest bedding set from Christmas (see it here) – a crisp and tailored white duvet set, with a soft and elegant french blue border. Anyone who knows me well, also knows how much I love to use blue in our home, so I’ve amped it up with a vibrant dose of my favourite hue to brighten things up for spring. I didn’t spend much at all in here, everything you see, I already own except for my beautiful new faux blue hydrangeas. I love these so much and love how cheerful they feel in here. They’re going to be on prominent display all over our home this spring – so keep your eye open for the rest of my spring content coming soon! In the mean time, you can keep reading for my master bedroom decorating tips that I’ve incorporated in here this spring.

USE YOUR BEAUTIFUL BEDDING FOR LAYERING

I’m a sucker for gorgeous bedding, and mixing different sets together whenever I can. Last spring, I used a beautiful navy blue chinoiserie print duvet set mixed with tailored white and navy hotel bedding for a chic, layered look (see it here). This year, I went a little more simple and pared-down. I’ve had white bedding as a base in our bedroom now for the last year, and it creates the perfect backdrop for adding layers. That said, the two different sets of white bedding I do have, both have a border detail that ups the visual anti just a little bit. I personally always love a little extra detail of color to make a subtle statement.

I used this throw in here last summer as well (see it here) to create a causal, costal vibe in our bedroom.Simple and affordable master bedroom decorating tips for spring - see how easy it is to refresh your bedroom for a new season!

LAYER VIBRANT PILLOWS IN A BOLD PATTERN

If you remember my updated living room post from the fall (click here to see it), I featured these gorgeous ikat beauties for the first time in our home. I absolutely love them, with their saturated colors and global-chic vibe. I brought them into our bedroom for spring so I could play up the blues in our master bedroom and make a strong visual statement with a heavy punch of color and pattern.Simple and affordable master bedroom decorating tips for spring - see how easy it is to refresh your bedroom for a new season!

Simple and affordable master bedroom decorating tips for spring - see how easy it is to refresh your bedroom for a new season!Blue happens to be one of my favorite colors and it has most definitely become a staple in my decor over the last few years. Speaking of blue, our navy and brass lamps also made their way in here last fall, when I shared my fall bedroom look (click here to see it) – which was another very inexpensive bedroom update using almost everything I already had – swapping your lamps is one of my tips in that post – it costs nothing and you get a totally new look.

Some seasons, I’ll fully swap out our bedding for a brand new look, and other seasons the only updates will be a few key pieces to refresh our space. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel to change things up. Be creative and look around your house to mix things up a little.Simple and affordable master bedroom decorating tips for spring - see how easy it is to refresh your bedroom for a new season!Using a bold, graphic pattern is the perfect way to refresh your space for any season. DISPLAY NATURAL CURIOSITIES WITH BEAUTIFUL ACCESSORIES

One of my favorite decorative accessories any time of the year is coral and other natural curiosities. I think I was meant to live by the water, because I just love anything to do with it – oddly enough, I don’t like going in it or swimming – isn’t that funny? Ok back to my favorite things! Simple and affordable master bedroom decorating tips for spring - see how easy it is to refresh your bedroom for a new season! There’s something about coral just makes my heart happy and I’ve bee building my collection for a while now – I’m looking for more, it’s one of those staples I can’t have enough of. I love to group a whole bunch of them together and I also love to mix a beautiful coral sculpture with beautiful accessories. They always bring life to any vignette.Simple and affordable master bedroom decorating tips for spring - see how easy it is to refresh your bedroom for a new season! My little blue and white striped vase and faux cloral arrangement was a HomeSense find last year, and it’s the perfect little pop of spring for my nightstand. It’s amazing!Beauty beyond words in my opinion – there’s nothing quite like nature and sprinkling those natural elements around your home is always a win. Even if some are faux – that’s completely fine!

FAUX HYDRANGEAS (OR ANY FLORALS YOU LOVE!) ARE ALWAYS ON POINT

By now, you’ve obviously noticed these gorgeous faux beauties – can you believe how real they look? I absolutely love them. I don’t know why I didn’t invest in a big bunch of blue hydrangeas before now – I am so in love with their vibrant hue and they just scream spring and summer to me. Simple and affordable master bedroom decorating tips for spring - see how easy it is to refresh your bedroom for a new season!I mixed two different colors together to a create a more realistic, varied look – there’s a total of six stems arranged here (these stems have three bunches on each) in my blue and white ginger jar – two of which, are slightly more aqua than the others. It’s important to look for color variation when you’re buying faux florals – just as you’d find them in nature.Simple and affordable master bedroom decorating tips for spring - see how easy it is to refresh your bedroom for a new season! They brighten up any spot I use them in (I love them in my happy corner!), and as I mentioned at the beginning of my post, you can expect to see many more of these pretties sprinkled throughout our home this spring. I’ve used faux flowers for years and years, even before they weren’t a ‘ faux pas’ ;) – I just love them, and there are so many available now that look so real. Don’t be shy to try them yourself if you never have before. They have multiple uses and are a very worthwhile investment. I bought these (and many others I have) at Michael’s where they always have great 2 for 1 deals.Simple and affordable master bedroom decorating tips for spring - see how easy it is to refresh your bedroom for a new season!Florals, real or faux, always add so much to any space and make any room feel so much more beautiful – your bedroom should benefit from them too!Simple and affordable master bedroom decorating tips for spring - see how easy it is to refresh your bedroom for a new season!
