FALL KITCHEN DECORATING: WARM METALS + PARED-BACK STYLE

| |

Do you remember, a few weeks ago, when I shared my fall decorating tips, I talked about the fact that I was behind on my fall decor? My plan was to start with our living room and our new sofas, and from there I was going to tackle the rest of our home. Well, friends, sometimes things do not go as planned, so, as it turns out, I’m totally winging it this fall. Our sofas are still not here but that’s ok. I’ve been rolling with the punches, hence my ‘winging’ it all this season. I shared some fall tips (read them here), I shared our fall master bedroom (see it here), and today, I am sharing my fall kitchen decorating, that I’ve approached with a very pared-back sensibility, mixed in with warm metals to amp up the cozy factor and play off the existing brass details in our kitchen. I’m craving simplicity, ease and effortlesnesss. I’m thinking my Christmas decorating will also follow suit. Although I am all about layering my rooms and creating curated spaces, I’ve been thinking about ways to take my signature style and simplify. I think our kitchen is a pretty good place start, so today I hope you enjoy reading all about my fall kitchen decorating, and how I approached this look for the season.

OUR FALL KITCHEN DECORATED WITH WARM METALS + PARED-BACK STYLE

Fall kitchen decorating that is simple yet beautiful - warm metals, simple greenery and a just a few accessories for gorgeous pared-back style. There’s nothing quite like that warm and cozy feeling that the fall season ushers in. Crackling fires, the scent of wood burning in the air outside, the aroma of spiced candles and baking indoors. Don’t you just love the way the season brings you a little closer to home? I’m a homebody to begin with, and I’d choose a cozy night indoors, all snuggled up, before going out for dinner any day.Fall kitchen decorating that is simple yet beautiful - warm metals, simple greenery and a just a few accessories for gorgeous pared-back style. This past spring, I layered on the flowers, faux and real, and loads of blue and white in this space (see it here), for a maximalist look. I loved it! This summer, when I shared our new brass hardware and faucet, it was a little less fussy, but still somewhat layered, again with my blue and white collection and florals (see it here). Last fall had a little bit of color peppered around with some fresh cut branches just starting to change their leaves and a few more of my blue and white pieces (see it here).

Fall kitchen decorating that is simple yet beautiful - warm metals, simple greenery and a just a few accessories for gorgeous pared-back style.I wanted to evoke a warm and cozy feel in our kitchen this season, but I wanted to do it without the fuss of too many things layered around the room. I kept it clean, and pared-back, with only very few key elements, that to me, speak of the season. I wanted the counters to be clean and streamlined, styled with just a few items – cake stands with their covers, a footed bowl, marble cutting boards, faux olive stems and my gold hurricane lanterns flanking the range.Fall kitchen decorating that is simple yet beautiful - warm metals, simple greenery and a just a few accessories for gorgeous pared-back style. We have a lot of counter space in this kitchen, and it’s so easy for them to get filled up very quickly with stuff. And I like stuff. Keeping it all neutral for my fall kitchen decorating this year, it helps to enhance that streamlined look I was going for.

I’m in love with these faux olive branches that I found at Michael’s. I mixed them with a few other faux stems for a fuller look, and arranged them in my simple glass cylindrical vase for a clean, modern vibe. I love it paired together with my more detailed hurricane lantern too.Fall kitchen decorating that is simple yet beautiful - warm metals, simple greenery and a just a few accessories for gorgeous pared-back style.

My blue and white ginger jars are the only pieces I added from my collection in here, because I still love to infuse it throughout our home, and I wanted that little bit of color over by the sink. I used some of my faux greenery from last year to fill them. I’ve used these faux stems so many times since last year – they’re fabulous for tablescapes and for fillers for floral arrangements. Those of you who know me, know I love my faux florals and greenery ;)Fall kitchen decorating that is simple yet beautiful - warm metals, simple greenery and a just a few accessories for gorgeous pared-back style.Fall kitchen decorating with blue and white ginger jar with faux greenery.Fall kitchen decorating that is simple yet beautiful - warm metals, simple greenery and a just a few accessories for gorgeous pared-back style.

On the island, still keeping it clean and simple, I styled my gold leaf tray with my over-scale brass lantern that I scored this past summer (this piece looks amazing no matter where it lands!), and some scented candles. The warm metals grouped together draw your eye right to the center of the room, then back to the lanterns by the range, and suddenly you notice all of the brass tones working together in here.Fall kitchen decorating that is simple yet beautiful - warm metals, simple greenery and a just a few accessories for gorgeous pared-back style.

I love our lantern-style pendant lighting, but lately I’ve been itching to change them again, I’ve been craving something more simple. I know, they’re ‘new-ish’ and they’re beautiful in here. They marry the black and brass elements in our kitchen beautifully. I’ve talked about this before, but I would really love some all brass lighting or even something with a shade. I’m on the hunt but haven’t found them yet. If you remember what our kitchen looked like before these were installed (read one of my older kitchen posts here), we had just a single pendant that now hangs in our entryway, which I had painted gold. I really miss that warm tone that it brought into the room, so I’m thinking I may be bringing it back. With all the black over the island now that there are two fixtures here, it may be time to lighten this up again…what do you think?Fall kitchen decorating that is simple yet beautiful - warm metals, simple greenery and a just a few accessories for gorgeous pared-back style.Fall kitchen decorating that is simple yet beautiful - warm metals, simple greenery and a just a few accessories for gorgeous pared-back style.

I work at this island and I love to have a yummy scent infused in here while I’m working. By the way – I am looking for a larger scale tray to use here also. I find the scale just a tiny bit small for the size of the surface area of the island. I am loving the brass and mix of warm metal tones, so this little vignette will be staying for a while.

Especially since my open shelves, which are very close and very visible, have so many pieces styled on them. I haven’t changed this setup very much at all, I’m loving the glass and white elements on display. I pulled my soup tureen down off the top shelf to style atop of the range  – I needed something to use for these pictures haha. While I do love it there, it’s not so practical for everyday! I won’t lie – some things are staged for photography’s sake ;)
