AN EASY AND FUN FAMILY VALENTINE’S DAY CELEBRATION!

With growing kids and busy lives, finding the time to pull together a full-on Valentine’s day spread can be really hard to manage, especially when it falls in the middle of the week and our kids’ activities. This year, Valentine’s day falls on a Wednesday, and we won’t even all be home for dinner. These days, we only get to spend that quality dinner time together a few days of the week. Our schedules are packed between work, homework, hockey games and dance training. Last week, if you missed it, I shared how to easily pull together a beautiful, neutral Valentine’s day tablescape (which can be done rather quickly too@), for those days when you do have a little more time on your hands – you can have a look at it here. However today, this post is all about a fun, vibrant spread, full of yummy valentine’s treats that everyone will love – a quick and effortless way to express your adoration for those you love the most! This was so simple to create, I promise you can do this any time of day. *Affiliate links are provided in this post for your shopping convenience – while I make a small commission on these items, it’s no extra cost to you!A no-fuss, quick and easy Valentine's day spread with treats the whole family will love - anyone can pull this off in no time! When I was thinking about what I wanted to create for this post, I knew it had to be something I could pull together quickly. Often times I think about the practicality of what I’m featuring and how important it is for me to feature something that is not only beautiful, but easy for you to create at home as well. I enlisted the help of my daughter, Sydney, who was thrilled to help me design this little treat station by the fire in our living room. I told her what my vision was, and off to work we went!
A no-fuss, quick and easy Valentine's day spread with treats the whole family will love - anyone can pull this off in no time!We picked up some Valentine’s candy hearts and cinnamon hearts from the store, pulled out our stash of m&m’s from Christmas (only the red ones, of course), we baked a batch of brownies, and made some of our favorite hot cocoa.A no-fuss, quick and easy Valentine's day spread with treats the whole family will love - anyone can pull this off in no time!Aside from running out to the store for the candy, and baking the brownies, this little fun-filled display only took us about 45 minutes to pull off. We made some fresh whipped cream to top off our cocoa, and added red food coloring to some sugar to use on the rims of all the glassware, and to sprinkle atop the whipped cream. I also added a few drops of red to our fizzy drinks to make them extra pretty and fun.A no-fuss, quick and easy Valentine's day spread with treats the whole family will love - anyone can pull this off in no time!My girlfriend found these gold mercury glass mason jars for me, and I just love them. They’re the perfect accessory to add some sparkle to your table and they’re a unique variation on the clear ones.

That was one of Sydney’s jobs. She loves to bake and took it on quite seriously, making them as perfect as she could… she’s a lot like me and likes things to be just right!A no-fuss, quick and easy Valentine's day spread with treats the whole family will love - anyone can pull this off in no time! These cute little stemless champagne flutes were sent to me by a fellow blogging friend as a gift, and they are just perfect for celebrating any occasion. I drink mostly sparkling water, I rarely drink alcohol and since this is a family friendly celebration, I went with water for this little beverage station. For the kids, some Seven-Up or Sprite does the trick too.

It was nothing to add the sugar and food coloring. If you’re not into using food coloring, then simply stick to white sugar, and any type of juice will do the trick to bring in those celebratory colors you’re looking for.A no-fuss, quick and easy Valentine's day spread with treats the whole family will love - anyone can pull this off in no time!

Of course, you have to have the classic Valentine’s candy treats to express your love…

My hubby and I don’t eat a whole lot of sugar, but if you know me by now, you know those m&m’s are a weakness of mine. And the hubs will sneak a few of those cinnamon hearts too ;)

The idea here is to spend a little time creating the perfect display, so we can all enjoy the time we get to hang out together as a family. Those of you with bigger kids know how valuable that precious family time is, which seems fewer and further between these days, as our kids are getting older and busier… and I’ll take any time I can get with my family by my side! Just a few extra minutes to sugar the rims of your glasses, or add a colourful touch is all it takes. I hope you enjoyed these tips, and that you’re inspired to create your own fun and easy Valentine’s Day celebration together with your family!
