A LOOK BACK AT 2016 AND SOME FAVORITE POSTS

| |

Happy New Year! I hope you al had a wonderful holiday with your families and friends! We certainly did and if you haven’t noticed, I’ve taken a break from the blog since Christmas…we were all off for two whole weeks, and we were so fortunate to spend much needed family time and R & R together. It was glorious! No schedule, lots of days spent with cousins, friends, sleepovers, lounging, movies, games, it was perfect. I had every intention of writing this post before the New Year, but well, I decided that it could wait. Everyone is back in school and to work today, and here we are, taking a look back at 2016 and some favorite posts – both yours, as well as some of mine. A year goes by in the blink of an eye and already we’re almost half way through January! Here we go, hope you enjoy!

My first post of January 2016, featured our master bedroom, and how we created a cozy, curated space. Many of you know this room has seen many updates, but this look is still a favorite of mine. It was also a favorite among my readers and on Instagram –  I discovered this past year how much everyone loves bedrooms! Click the link below to read all about this space and it’s collected look and feel.

Next on the list, as one of my personal favorites, is our daughter’s bedroom makeover (which will be seeing another one sometime this year!), this room went from a saturated vibrant palette, to a crisp, clean and refreshing one. This was a fun project to work on and she still loves this space…we’ve made a few changes, like moving the bed and removing the carpet, but it mostly has remained as is. Girls mature quickly and she wants something a little more grown up, so make sure to stay tuned for that one later this year!

A REFRESHING BEDROOM UPDATE

My top post of the entire year, believe it or not, is my shortest post! Maybe I need to look at how I’m writing, hmmm…This photo also happens to be my most popular Pinterest Pin. By the way, if you don’t follow me over there, please don’t be shy! Click the photo and it will take you to Pinterest where you can follow along with me if you like :) Click the link to read this ‘interim’ bedroom post which was the look we had before the big change…

NEW MASTER BEDROOM BEDDING

Bellow is the last bedroom post I’m sharing today, I promise! Here’s the after, fully finished with the new bedding, new paint and gold touches. Currently, we have our original grey bedding during the colder months for a warmer look, but now that the holidays are over, I’m getting ready to get back to this fresh and bright look for spring.

My favorite blue and white ceramics and sprinkled fresh flowers and greens kept our home fresh and airy for my Summer Home Tour, which was a favorite post of yours last year.

I had the privilege of getting to know the incredibly talented, award-winning architect last year, Jeffrey Dungan. Through the power of connection and Instagram, Jeffrey and I got to know each other and I am extremely fortunate that he agreed to let me interview him for the blog! Such an interesting person and a genuine spirit. One of my favorite posts of the whole year!

SUMMER HOME TOUR

Our kitchen underwent a mini makeover with a very low cost DIY that brings a very high impact update to our space – enhancing both the height of the room and our focal wall with no upper cabinets and subway tile. A favorite of mine!

A close look into our living room details and the layers of pattern and texture that adorn our space, is still one of my favorite posts of the year as well.

Fall brought warm tones, textures and layers to our home and my Fall Home Tour is one of your favorites and is a hugely popular post from 2016. Personally, it’s my favorite time of year and I love to decorate for the Fall season every year.

One of my favorite posts of all of last year, as well as my favorite makeover/room update is our dining room. It went from a richly layered room of bold pattern mixing and textures, to a more chic, subdued look, yet still keeping the integrity of the room design. Once again, minimal change that has big impact.

Which also leads me to another one of my favorite posts (I’m backtracking a little bit and you can see the previous dining room look here as well) – our new dining room chandelier. Modern, fresh, and a very inexpensive take on a high-end fixture, this light adds major chic factor to our home.

My Christmas Home tour was a definite reader favorite, and one of the most fun blog posts to work on last year. I decided to tone down some of the color and pattern around our home and try to keep it more neutral for the season. It was a magical time in our home!

Lastly, my favorite post to close the year was my outdoor lighting post. I’d been searching for a new fixture for our front porch for years and I was thrilled when I found the perfect match to add to our exterior.
